This VFR was in great condition until the accident, which was a low speed low-side, but most of the damage was done up front when the bike hit the guard rail across the street - if not for hitting the guard rail, it would still be rideable and street-legal. I won't be able to ride for a while (I was hit by a truck coming the other way after I was separated from the bike), so rebuilding it myself is not an option. I'm also a med student and won't have the money for repairs for another year or so. Here is what the bike needs:
1. new bodywork up front (upper fairing headlight/fixture - I actually have a spare used set of lights that will go with the bike) and fairing/guages stay. Guages still in good shape and in working order.
2. a new radiator
3. new front forks and wheel fender (a used set in good condition will come with the bike including brake calipers and reflectors, but they are not installed)
4. new tip sensor. According to the mechanic who looked it over, this is why it won't start. It also needs new side/lower fairings, but those would be more or less optional.
It has about 12k miles on it. The bike has an aftermarket 2 Bros exhaust (best sounding bike on the planet), aftermarket dark smoke windscreen (which appears to be in good shape), a leather tank bra, a K&N air filter - recently installed at the 12k mile service, a new regulator/rectifier (original models had tendency to overheat, Honda has since replaced the part with a more effective one), and a tail light modulator, which can easily be removed if its not your thing. I also have the original clear windscreen and the rear seat cowl sitting in storage that will go with the bike. A Clymer manual will go with it.
The bike was in pristine condition before the accident, never abused. I was the third owner, the first two owners were older mature riders who never had a chance to ride (I bought it with 7300 miles this past July). All services were done on time or early. My parents took pics with a 35mm camera so I can email full-sized scanned images if needed, although they're not the best pics.
CLEAR Ohio Title is in hand and will be transferred, NOT SALVAGE.
Shoot me an email if you're interested. Asking 1500. Will take cash or check (personal checks must clear before pickup). Will consider trade for early 90's sportbike/ sport touring bike in decent condition. This bike will require some work before it can be ridden - its not a "quick fix."
