Free Paint Touchup!

I did it... dropped my bike last year. The scratches make me cringe everytime I look at them. So, I was planning on touching them up (buying the paint and doing it myself). In my search for the right colour of paint, I went to an autobody shop (who is also a Honda authorized place). My goal was to buy the paint. Guess what the owner says?

"Bring your bike in.... I'll touch it up for free!!!!"

I am so happy, I had to share!!! biggrin.gif

I went to a paint store this morning to get some PB215C paint for the VifFerraRi because it has a few dings/scratches in the paint, but more importantly so I could make some blanking plates for the new confirminators I'm fitting this weekend. The helpful guys there spend ages trying to mix up some matching paint. They came up with two different cans which looked pretty close, but the problem was the standard paint is like a three-part job: primer, black, silver/blue, blue/clear, clear. Like I said: a five-part job, but they reckoned two (silver/blue, then bluish/purplish/clearish). So they said not to bother, because if I went with either of their samples, it would make me look like this: pissed.gif and if I wnet with their two-can (toucan?) job, it would cost me $66 for the two aerosols, plus primer.

Hmmm... so now it's Plan B: black or silver blanking panels. Contrast. Whatever.

I now don't even have any touch-up paint for the sundry scratches and dings. sad.gif


Oh yeah: I'm now so unhappy, I just had to share!!

Do you have an autobody shop that you have brought your car into at one point for body work? My thoughts on why he is doing this for me is a) he makes the majority of his profit from people who bring their cars in where the insurance companies pay and he's hoping that I am so happy with him that I bring my cars in to him for the rest of my life or cool.gif He couldn't resist my charm and beauty.... I think it's A. So go into your local shop and see what they can do for you. Maybe that'll turn your frown upside down tongue.gif

No, but there's a guy near here who does most of the motorcycle paint and repair for the city, and he's VERY good. I know that he's done paint repairs on a few blue Blackbirds (Bluebirds?!?) the same colour as the VifFerraRi, so he should be able to paint me some bits. As a matter of fact, just before I left the paint supplies place, one of their mobile guys suggested I go there, so that's an option.

For now, I just need to track down some bits of black ABS plastic I can use for the blanking plates, and see how that looks.
