If for some strange reason Honda were to do away with the model, I will probably buy one of the last ones, just so that I can own one for as long as possible. Sound crazy??? I would like to always have a VFR in the garage.
I have not found anything on the market that appeals to me more than the VFR. For me the VFR is the perfect balance of performance and comfort. The bike is smooth and refined and feels solid and planted in all types of riding. The only thing I would ask for is about 15 to 20 more horsepower, but I can live with power it produces. The weight of the bike is not an issue with me, and only adds to the solid feel over the road. One of my best friends has tried to convince me on a couple of occasions that I need to get rid of the VFR and get a real sportbike. He is wasting his breath.
I am not ready for a full touring bike just yet, and if I want a more serious sportbike I will add a CBR to my garage. For me the VFR is the perfect streetbike. So if Honda dumps the VFR, I will be buying one more. Just hope they make it in silver one more time.

Saddly this is the final year for the VFR. Rumors are around for a 1000cc replacement but at this point it is wishfull thinking. We can only hope.

There has never been a shortage of attractive motorcycle on the market. In fact it is more a shortage of time, money, and storage space to meet all my motorcycle desires. I personally would like something like a Super Blackbird, but my insurance company quoted me $6,000 per year. I called another place and they just sort of laughed. My dad has been talking about picking up a ZX14 as a retirement gift to himself. I am doing what I can to encourage that idea, cuz then I could ride it once in awhile. I remember my motorcycle instructor mentioned a few years ago that there were 500 different models of production motorcycles available in North America. I am sure there will always be something in that pool that I want have in my garage. If not then it would be time to hang up the helmet. For now I am just lovin the VFR.
I doubt they will discontinue it for any length of time. If they do I'd like to have enough money to buy the RWB edition to have a spare. Of course, if money were no object, I'd have one of each generation from 500cc to 1000cc. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/biggrin.gif)

Honda hears us...as well as others....there will be another VFR, though it might morph into something else less recognizable.
Logically, they know they'd be producing a bike that might not sell as well as a first-year CBR, but truthfully (and I don't mean this as an insult) just how much has Honda® had to invest in the VFR 2003-2007? Very little, I'd think.
Listen, Honda....you produce a VFR, you make sure you've got a certain amount of features for a certain price and...WHAM! Guaranteed sales of at least a certain amount of bike, year after year.
We won't break any sales records for you, but we will show up in droves, if your price and feature set are right (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/warranty.gif)

I'm planning to keep my '04 for a long time. It's just too perfect of a bike for me to consider trading it for something else. I'll likely add (GASP!) a cruiser to the garage within a couple years for my wife and I to wander around on during date nights, but I can't see any other bike replacing the VFR, at least not until I can afford a new BMW K1200S (or R).
Also, since I just bought $1000 worth of mods for my VFR I've gotta get my money's worth out of them for awhile!

That being said; I'm glad I've got my '06 VFR, and wouldn't trade it for any bike. If Honda discontinues the VFR, and I was in need of a new bike; I'd probably just get myself a used VFR. Honda has been getting some of flak the past few years for not coming up with a 7th gen bike; but I don't think anyone else has come up with a better offering yet either. Otherwise, why are we all still riding VFRs? (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/smile.gif)
On the other hand if a new VFR comes out, I will certainly consider it.
Heck, even a 07 R-W-B would be cool. But the ST3s is only 2k more once you buy bags. You cant buy the forks, shock and wheel upgrades the ST has for the difference in price.

Motorcycle News (UK) states yet again today that "an All new VFR is due out within months", no certainty on engine size but they do claim that it will once again be Honda's technological flagship model and as such we can expect some high tech electrics such as perhaps traction control.. If they stop making the VFR I will be sad, and angry. On the other hand, the value will go up and I will be happy. Since I no longer have a girlfriend, I have more garage space... I don't think Honda is quite that dumb. Then again, who knows!

You can quit dreaming about under 400 lbs wet. Thats unrealistic. 450-460 wet is more relistic. They aren't going to make a VFR that is lighter than both the 1kRR and the 600RR. The 600RR is their lightest bike ever, and its still 410 wet. 385lb with all fluids except gas.

If Honda discontinue the VFR, I'll keep my '99 VFRSP2. It will need a refresh/rebore in about 200,000km... and I'll use the money I was gonna save for a new 2008 VFR on a 20 year old RC30...

The VFR is it's own enemy, they last forever and every model (Gen.) is fantastic bike so there is no reason to buy a replacement! Honda has shot themselves in the foot by building such an enduring and wonderful motorcycle! (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/huh.gif)

I have not heard any positive rumors as of late about what will happen to the VFR...It has been going both ways / some mags say its dead/ some say all new VFR coming in 2008...Looks like we will have to wait and see if Honda has lost its ambition /Drive to build a better V4 sportbike...
The Inline 4 engines just dont have character and they are just like everywhere ,sounds like a swarm of bumble bees going thru town.... A VFR has character as its exhaust note is hard to duplicate and I am always being asked by the 600/1000 riders " What is it you are riding"? Squids!!! pick up a motorcycle mag and read it, dont just look at the pictures..LOL
I have been a Honda V4 fan since 1983 when the VF750F was sitting in my drive and the keys in my pocket..First impression was a lasting impression...God I actually miss my old Interceptor at times, then i hop on my 99 and self medicate...AHHH, thats better..LOL
haha..I like my vfr..but from the rides I have had on these ones, it would easily be replaced with a zx14 or a sprint or even a sv1000 if they dont make a new one in a few yrs.......either way, i wont buy one if they keep the useless techno stuff coming...least unless it works better.....(IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/smile.gif)
I'd actually just like to see a simple v4 version in a great chassis at a lower price without all the weird stuff and some decent mileage!!!

In europe the number onE selling bike is the honda hornet and the new 2007 looks AWESOME but it won't make it to the US because "we dont like naked bikes" but its all in the numbers. Even some of the euro cars are better looking than ours, but us "americans" like our big bulky bricks with wheels!!

That's why I have a Triumph Speed Triple......Honda has never sent a "GOOD" naked bike to the states to see what kind of market there is. Triumph has sold every S-3 they've built each year since the 05 model. I simply got tired of waiting, and the new Triumphs are top notch machines.............(IMO) Honda's marketing dept. never has a clue. Some of the best motorcycles in the world, but in general, never seem to listen to what the buying public says or slow to react until some company starts out-selling them in some catagory....................... Yeah, that's a fatal flaw of Honda Americas. I'd be the proud owner of a Hornet 250 and a CBR125 if I had the ability, on top of my VFR. If the viffer gets discontinued, I'll live. It'll really, really suck, but I'll live. I'll continue praying that Aprilia will bring back the RST, and failing that, my next do-all road bike will be a Sprint ST.
