For all riders that have removed the rear fender and put on a fender eliminator. When riding in the rain, does your back get sprayed and get road grimed? Just wondering if I need to keep the rear fender handy for those longer tour rides.
I pulled my fender off for one day, got stuck in the rain and had dirt / grim all over my back. Put the fender right back on and sold the eliminator kit. If you travel a lot, or live in a rainy area, I personally wouldn't recommend moving the stock fender if you can help it. Its not pretty but its practical.
That' weird... I am using a CW kit on my bike and get stuck in the rain about once a month. My bike is usually filthy on the back from the spray, but I rarely get any crap on me at all. Now I do have a tailpack behind me, but it's usually pretty clean as well. Everything from the top of the taillight is covered in whatever is on the road... but I stay clean. 06 non abs by the way. One factor is that I take 60 miles of backroads and rarely get above 90 when dry and 70 when wet. I woudl think my average speed is 50 to 60 most days...40 to 50 in the rain. Maybe you guys are on the highway moving faster than me.

I ride in the rain sometimes and I never get any spray on my back, but it may be because of the suspension settings. The back of the bike does get pretty dirty though
