So I finally got around to painting my left side fairing and upper cowl that were damaged during my first 6 months of ownership in 2003 because of my lack of experience and general stupidity. In any case, I ordered some paint from Colorite some time in 2004 and it sat in my garage for about 2 and a half years. I followed the instructions as carefully as I could and the only thing I didn't use of theirs was their primer. I figured primer is primer right? Maybe that is why the new paint looks more gray than silver, but overall I am happy with the results. It definitly looks a lot better than those black scratches did and you can only tell it's not a perfect match when you look from one side to the other quickly. So, the left side is a bit darker and not quite as shiny as the right factory painted side. Doesn't bother me. Here are some pics of the project.

This is my "paint boot" to reduce dust and cat hair from sticking to paint

Only painted left side of cowl. Bad tape job lead to a line running down the side. Oh well...

I hope when I buff and wax the new paint that it will brighten up a bit more, but overall it ain't bad for 75 bucks. fing02.gif
