Not done,.....but what do you think, of the paint match? They will lighten, slightly. The second pic, the handle plug, has no shadow and damn near no contours.
Baileyrock, Aug 6 2007, 05:46 PMThose are some cool looking NACA duct covers, but the color looks wrong to me!!!! unsure.gif The 4th gen guys should really like these! fing02.gif

They are VERY light dependant. The shading is, (IMHO), spot on. The depth is a bit off. The paint I'm using is a 2 stage. Honda, is using a 3 stage. The only other option, is changing my system, and trusting color wrong, that my $450.00, will not be a waste.
Here I be!!! Was spending time with the girls. Man those look SWEET!!! The color on the bike is very light dependant as well, so they are probably perfect (knowing Travis.) They look awesome - can't wait to put them on wink.gif Can you paint the screen black? I have the whole red/black thing going on with the new bike (thought I mentioned that to you on the phone, but I am pretty forgetful these days.
While I have everyone's attention, here's the question of the day... should I go with red or blue gauges on the new red bike? I already have a blue daytel volt meter from the black bike, but can get a red one if you guys think it will look better. I'm getting ready to send off my bike and truck gauges to Scott in the next week or so.
Travis, as usual you have outdone yourself. Outstanding!!!

SO IT SHALL BE DONE. MY main, is to get the base right. The sun came out. Looks like it will have to be better.

LOL. The ground is coming-up fast, and the chute isn't open yet. LOL. (I thought it had, but then, the whole sun thing). LOL.
winaje, Aug 6 2007, 07:52 PMAbsolutely beautiful paintwork. Well Done.
Trav, the work down here in florida would be unreal if you would be interesting in painting. Im not kidding, people ask all the time for someone to paint there rashed fairings!!!! dang squids!!!!
Trav, NICE job bro! I hope my own painting turns out that great. Looks like i will be painting jason's track bike (both fairing sets for it), my bike and some other bikes!!!
Thanks. But I'm never happy. Especially, with paint, in the sun. I've got years more, to learn.
Previous phthos: I thinned the paint a tad more, so that I wouldn't have the silver content polarize, on me. I should not have done that. I re-painted, last night. One of the pieces is going to be my comparison piece, as I'm sure Will wants his Plug back. LOL.
Hell, it looked good to me the first time smile.gif I'm happy when you're happy (as you are very compentent and detail oriented.) No rush on my end, so do what you think you need to do. At the same time, I hate for you to keep having to repaint it, seems like a lot of work for you. Nevertheless, paint until you are happy with it and I will pay for the extra paint and labor (since you are busting a$$ on this one.) Thanks for your awesome work and do whatever makes you happy wink.gif
(but please paint the mesh black) tongue.gif
Oh yeah, on the blue gauges... I really like the blue, but on the 06 and 07 bikes the tach is red (the thing is permacoated red.) So the middle can only be turned white while the edge remains red and the gauges turned blue (see the pic below, that is the pic scott posted of my gauges on the site when he finished..
Your gauges look nice too. I like the blue. Reminds me of the R1 gauges. However, Red/Amber is clinically proven to be the easiest color for your eyes to see and focus on. Can you do the red but have white numbers for the tach?

Glad to see/hear you are up and riding again!
Actually, billiard tables haven't been covered with red felt in years, because it hurt the eyes... unsure.gif
Again, I say go with blue. The red is totally different. You have no choice, for the tach, if you want to see it. White. You could be outlandish,....................................................... Why not red, on the outside of the guages, and U.V. in the center. (Excluding the tach). This would give you a, "Phase shift", look. OR ALTERNATE, every other one, around each display. BOOGA, BOOGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And boy does that look sweet!!! I can't wait to slap that on the bike...rode through a bug storm the other day. Got lucky as the really big ones missed the hole! A week from tomorrow it will all be a bad memory (thanks to travis.) As usual, awesome work! My compliments!!!
for those of you wanting these... buy them, worth every penny! Someone just painted their space where these mount, would have been easier (and more practical) to mount a bug buster smile.gif
Question, Travis.... it this one set up for the stock/ZG screen, or the MRA/Puig? Thanks
On a crappy note. I cracked the hugger mold. BAD. pissed.gif pissed.gif pissed.gif pissed.gif pissed.gif pissed.gif pissed.gif My head is going to explode. Take'n the rest of the night off to re-assess, and drink myself to sleep. LOL. I've been so chipper, the last couple days, too,.......
Hey Seb...Interesting point about the pool tables. I should be more specific and not say red, but amber. Look inside a BMW for the last 10 years and they all have amber lights. I'll have to look at where I heard this. I could be blowing smoke or maybe it was a BMW sales rep.
I would love to see a pick of your gauges, regardless of which way you go.
House --- hope your feeling better and getting more ride time.
Man, I'm a moron. I was just sitting there thinking that the part needed more curve... never thought about actually giving is a little bend tongue.gif Anyway, thanks for the vid and all the hard work... now HOW MUCH DO I OWE YOU (and where do I send it.) Check out Riv's outstanding (as always) work!!!
What's the sitch on the hugger? If you want, sand down your sedcam and paint it 07 red or black and I'll buy it... anything to help a brother out. I have a friend who is getting ready to buy a RWB, and he will want a hugger at some point. So if you paint it black, I can give or sell it to him later when you make your famous huggers! Let me know and THANKS!!!!
Rivcyko, Aug 22 2007, 09:19 PMQuestion: Why is the grill red?
How's the match? Wanna see it in the sunlight. You are the key. LOL.
Grill is not red... it just looked that way in the pic for some reason. It totally looks black. How much? Where to send? and what did you think about my hugger suggestion? I will try to get you a sunlight pic tomorrow. Thanks for everything (except the video of your crotch.) wink.gif
Depends, with the hugger. I need 2 more days. (test fit'n'all).
P.M. on the way. The '07 red is the same on both styles. Ask you'r bud which color interests him more. (Again, if the huggers work). Time is of the essence.

Well... I would like one of yours... but if it's gonna be awhile, I will buy the secdam hugger if you will paint it for me (which I will pay for.) Then when you get your huggers done, I will buy one of those and sell the other to my buddy (who does not care as long as he has a hugger.) I can pay immediately for either... so whatever is best for you. I think the black might be easier... but the red might look better. I don't want you to have to paint the things 2 or 3 times... too much work for you. Thanks

If the test part doesn't fit, (tomorrow), I'll paint the secdem. I just hate to get into something that I may be able to sell today. (As I am jobless, time and $$, are of the essence). I'll know tomorrow. If it fits, I'll be balls out on prep, primer and paint. By the by, red will work?
Hey Will, how's this. The back of the guard is a little skued, still. All I can really do, at this point is shorten it, or split the difference, optically.
Ugh, no. It was the wife's bday last week.... a month long event at our house... so I have done 0 mods during that time. They are all stacked in the garage waiting to go smile.gif BTW, I am doing some work for McCleod, could you just ship his stuff to me (if that's what he wants?) Thanks in advance.
K. My paint skills are still lacking. Got a couple of drips in the clear, but I figured better that than too thin, orange peel, trying to sand all of those contours, eating to the base, and having to re-paint. LOL.

Sweet. Thanks! Enjoy. fing02.gif
I'll be mounting Butch's on Sat when I get home smile.gif That tail looks good so far. I bought another undertray (used) so when I hack it up, I can still go back to stock (except for the tabs I have to cut on the cowl... but I could bond them back to the cowl if necessary.) I wish I could paint... but look at 767fixer's NACA duct thread I did... I lack alot of skill in that area!
Butch, sending your gauges off to Scott when I get back from Reno on Sat. You will need to paypal him... I think it will only be $40 for all red if you still want to go that route. I'm starting a new bike shop in my basement workshop just for you smile.gif less traffic in there and my kid is never down there... much safer. I just ordered tools for that room and they should be there when I get back. Also, I picked up some pro-grips for you to try. They are on me... if you hate them, it will only take seconds to switch them. I think you will like them better that what you have and the color is a closer match smile.gif
Well, errrrrrrrrrr,.....it is what it is. Had a touch-up spot, some bubbles, where the drips were, and had a good time try'n to get a glass-like surface,....
