Yesterday afternoon, many of the VFR riders at the meet were invited to the first large group tour offered by the kind people at Motoczysz. They were gracious beyond belief, offering us parking in a warehouse that will soon be a manufacturing floor, providing an impressive spread of food and drink, and giving us amazingly free access to their personnel and facilities. We all had to sign non-disclosure agreements, which we gladly did, after which we were shown a couple of great videos in the media room/visitor's area.
Motocsysz, for those who aren't familiar with the company, is developing an extremely high-tech American-built contender for street and track. Much of the current bike's design displays out-of-the-box thinking, but when you see the bike itself (especially sans bodywork), it's readily apparent that there is real genius behind what amounts to a direct challenge to current thinking about Moto-GP level racing components.
I can't comment about current specifications or Motoczysz' plans for future development (though Michael Czysz was present for a Q&A and was remarkably generous and forthcoming), but suffice it to say that a cottage manufacturer has been born that - given sufficient time and finances - may one day embarrass the fastest bikes produced by the current lumbering giants of the industry.
A trip to the dyno room (YES, we got to stand at the door to the dyno room!!!!) allowed us to watch, listen, and feel as the engine was put through its paces. Again, my hands are tied about specifics, but let me just say that the engine note is truly unique and reveals an engine that (although LOUD) is a marvel of vibration-free operation.

Way to go Loni, posting up. Yea, it was a fantastic insight into an impressive company. The guy is driven to succeed for sure. Csysz rocks! I was blown away by their hospitality. A big thank you from all of us for sure!

In the rush to get the BBQ prepared I thought that I might not make it to the tour. I'm sooooooo glad that I did make it because it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Michael Czysz has got to be one of the coolest, most down-to-earth people I have ever met.

Looks like a great turnout and event, what a great opportunity and experience to visit the Motoczysz Factory!!! I would have loved to be part of that tour. I have been reading about and watching their development every sense seeing that beautiful machines layout in one of the mags last year or so, amazing! :thumbsup: Good luck taking on the World ! :thumbsup:

The original C1, as amazing as it proved to be, was little more than a cobbled together test mule compared to the new bike! I can't wait for the finished product and a proper road test review.
Ok, here goes. I can hardly orate the over whelming time I had at the MotoCzysz tour. First they give us our own garage to park 27 bikes in. Then as we drove in the garage we circled the space so we would be facing out the door on the way we drove by a cornicopia of foof and drink. What a greeting I thought. Well, it only got better. All of the folks at the company that had personal contact with us were so polite and real. I guess most of the motorcycle people I know at least in our group are wonderful folks, and the people who showed us around including the owner were all motorcycle folks. So after some food and libations we signed an agreement saying we would respect everything they asked us to do. Then for the tour. We wallk up some stairs into a media room with chairs and couches and there on the screen is: Welcome VFRD! How cool is that. I think someone had a pic posted of it. As you panned down the screen at the bottom there sits a million dollar 06 MotoCzysz! Wow even more! At this point I am beginning to breath hard. It was a very cool entrance. They showed us some test footage and some history stuff which was very cool also. Now my heart is racing. So they take us into the Shop, well there is a bike in the throws of being developed, cardboard paper with naca ducks drawn on it an all. Behind the cardboard sits one the most revolutionary motors and suspentions ever developed. On the other side of the room are the shelved memories of the fairings and noses of the development process, Geremy McWillians included. In the middle of the room a door. Our host told us we could go through that door Five at a time to watch the engine being test run. At this I ran to the door to be the first to see something I had only seen on TV for a cage engine. Well we saw the engine and all of the computer stuff fo make it run through the glass. Man it was cool. But not quite as cool as walking around to the door to were the motor was mounted and having them fire it up right there while me a lowly poor motorcycle nut gets to watch. I got to tell you it was one of the coolest things that has happen to me in my life. I know your thinking why don"t I get a life. Well this was not a simple pleasure but for me it was a thrill. I can only say that when that engine went up on song it was awesome! To top that off if you think it could be topped, we returned to the media room were Mr. Czysz gave us 45 or so minutes of personal talk and Q and A. He is a gentlemans gentleman. One of the guys ask what he rode and he pointed the the 06 C1 sitting beside him.
I have tried to share this in a cohesive way. I hope it worked. When I talk about it I just get caught up it the emotion of the whole exsperience of the generousity and overwhelming technoligy that Motoczysz shared with us. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Loni,and Motoczysz for the adventure of a life time. The only thing better would be to see that bike winning championships with a Hayden on it.

KR racing and Ilmor have both had the heads handed to them by the motogp establishment yet each have MUCH better credentials and pedigrees in racing and engineering than motocyzysz. Do you guys really think they have the proverbial silver bullet or is just a lot of great hype/marketing?

What I gathered from Mr. Czysz was the AMA was more of a focus at this point. The Bike is the real thing. Even Honda and Yamha have had there heads handed to them this year.

It's not a lot of hype and marketing, but it is a tremendous challenge. Only time will tell. The fundamental point Michael Cyzysc (Sizz) made in his Q&A is that the motor has to be the starting point and the focal point of development, and his motor is fundamentally different in a number of ways from what's out there now. As the dyno tests showed, it's real, it runs, and it makes incredible power.
Cyzysc also said he spends a whole lot of his hours not in development but in securing funding. He gave up a succesful architecture business to start this, and if anybody can do it, I think he can.
The other point is that they're moving toward developing a street bike that works in the real world. He already has deposits on an initial run of 50. I'm not sure if we're supposed to say what they cost, but think "exotic."
Cyzysc at one point says he figures he has a relatively short time to deliver the whole thing or his financing will dry up. (I'm being intentionally vage here; I should work for the State Department.) We'll know soon enough.
Thanks to everybody who worked to put this together. Again, if was VFRD Pacific Northwest that got the first organized tour of this facility. How cool is that?!

Keep in mind what a bummer it was for a small manufacturer to invest all their resources in meeting the 990cc spec for MotoGP and then having the rule change as their 990cc engine is in mid-development! Do they have the silver bullet for MotoGP? No, but that's not their fault. Given time and resources, however, the team has the ingenuity to build the most innovative and capable bikes on the planet. The success of the first production run will surely determine future growth for the company, so there's every reason for high hopes.
In the meantime, maybe a head-to-head race between an RC211V and Motoczysz' new C1 is in order! :thumbsup:
I think the motorcycle world needs another Britten.......... I have been closely following the Czysz story for quite some time now and am literally drooling at the thoughts of getting the opportunity to see one first hand.. You guys are truly blessed

Urals are mainly exported to the USA nowdays. They are extremely popular in your country - with the sidecars. I know Some guys from BMW forums who bouhgt Urals. Though I did not recommend them. :rolleyes:
Wow, what a great opportunity to visit a millionaire playboy's playroom. That guy really knows how to spend his money! How did VFRD hook that up? I also want to see another Britten type guy build a bike and blow the pants off the big four in AMA racing, I am a little apprehensive about what his true intentions are with this company of his. I think he and his company will invent an array of parts and technology and then sell it to the highest bidder and move on to his next pet project or money maker.
Maybe this will be the swift kick in the pants that Honda needs to build some new, groundbreaking machines that we know they are capable of producing. (ie: new VFR is a joke)

If any of you are interested in knowing a little more about Mr. Czysz:
I have been keeping an eye on the developments of the MotoCzysz.
I'd love to see the bike be a major success in racing and prove that conventional is just old thinking often enough.
But I wonder a couple of things.
Assuming the bike is 9/10th as successful as M Czysz wants/dreams it to be, what will he do next?
Will he build more road bikes with these incredible insights?
Will he build a bike that more of us sport tourers would want?
Will he scale up for real assembly line type production?
And most importantly
When will they have another tour like that, because I be there if I have to ride like the cannonball to see it.
I went to site the other day and discovery channel is going to have special on this bike the air date in US is still TBA so watch for it early next year :D
