If you click on the VFR link, you can get a good timeline going back to 1983. I'm sure everybody knows all that stuff by heart, but in case you forgot.

Say it ain't so...7 years straight without an update? If it's true I guess the retirement account is safe for another year... <_<

They've only just lodged the patent apps for the new VFR design which surely means at least 2009 until a major update.

The patent has been granted, meaning they probably files the application and had the idea for the frame design 3 years ago. Also, patent application doesn't mean anything will ever see the light of day.

It's obvious the VFR is a tertiary (or worse) concern for them if it's on its 7th year basically unchanged while their CBRs get re-designed every 2 years.

That silver/gray for '08 has got to be the most boring color for any VFR ever. I do actually kind of like it, but it's just TOO gray.

Will be interesting to see if they finally break the mold a year from now. I'm not holding my breath. For those of you who were hoping for an all-new VFR (and I know most of us were) there are still plenty of terrific bikes out there. Personally, I'm really looking forward to checking out the new Buell 1125R.

Boo hiss...No new Honda for me.

I'm disappointed mainly because of all the hype (and hope) that we all expressed here on VFRD. I really like the new color and can't wait to see it in person, but it would've been quite nice if there were some updates.

So what's the new "Dream Machine"?

I know you all wanted an major size increase in the VFR... but all I wanted was for Honda to go back to the
360� crankshaft with gear driven cams and drop the silly VTEC... MotoGp has proven that a 800cc V4 can rule
the 1000cc I4s...

Gee, I went through the motorcycles and scooters......seems Honda changed most all of their line-ups colors.......lotta' dark gray for 08.........EXCITING.......my local Honda dealer was hoping for a new ST1300 to compete with the new Concours. I guess he can scratch that unless the bright red color counts.............. <_<...gotta' feeling the "newbie" is gonna' be the CBR1000RR......... :sleep:

its because the cbr's are the money makers for the sport bike line and maybe for most of the bike line altogetger. So they have first priority.

very true.. although I really thought a 1000cc V4 VFR was on the cards... how can MCN and other articles get away with writing this babble? I'm not too dissapointed to be honest, the 6th gen styling still does it for me, it still looks cutting edge. I've never had any problems with the vtec system on mine... now it's up to 17k.. no major 16k service yet and I don't think I intend to after speaking to a machanic 9/10 the valves never need adjusting but they still charge the hefty �3-350 for the touble. :blink:

I've never got past about 140mph on mine and I don't feel the need to, it's damn fast up there... who needs more?

Well in all fairness to Honda, they must have put alot of thought/development time into that new paint job. Otherwise why would they bump up the price by $200 :P.

Bob, just about every post from Nailer has some derogatory reference to the 6th gen VFR...i.e. business as usual. It's been suggested that he stop the "bashing", but he doesn't seem able to contain himself. :goofy:

Why anyone feels the need to bash another gen VFR on this board is beyond me.....hasn't just about every gen of VFR won "best bike" type honors in atleast some of the moto mags? As I mentioned in the other thread, all VFR's are great bikes, period.

You'll notice that for sme reason, most of those that do actually bag on 6th gen VFR's are genereally 5th gen owners....rarely do you see earlier gen owners bashing, nor do you see many 6th gen owners bashing any VFR ;)

So unfortunately, those like Nailer don't seem to get the message that no one is interested in their bitching, nor is this the place(VFRD) to be slamming someone else's choice of VFR :sleep:

No this subforum was titled about the "big letdown " of Honda not building a new VFR..Think about it . Why would you buy a 2008 vfr $11,000 when you can have a leftover 2005-2007 for a lot less money as they are the same machines just titled differnt years..

Yes the 6th gen is ok , for you but not my taste.. As for emissions part of it then why dont the cbr 600/1000 have vtec?
