Fairing Bolts Not Chromed?

I purchased a new set of fairing bolts/fasteners for my Gen 4 since the chrome has gone bad and the allen heads are worn on my originals. Part #'s
1) 90112-MT4-000
2) 90106-KY2-701
and they are not chromed. The orignal ones came chromed for a nice look. In fact the new ones look worse then my originals. I called Honda America and was told sorry thats the way they are made now if they came with out chrome on them and admitted they had no info why or how to look in to getting them the way they use to be made or who to contact to possibly fix the problem. Anyone know how to get new ones chromed from Honda with possibly a differnt part # or way to wake Honda up and pony up and chrome them like they use to?

My immediate response is "send them off to be chromed." Can't be more than a couple bucks.

just get some metal polish onto them. thats how all the bolts on my '99 became shiny.

Oh ya after I just paid $36 for these that look worse then my originals I have been polishing for years all ready that last at best a month pay more to have them chromed like the way they should be in the first place. idea3.gif Gee never thought of that...can some one please pick me some of that money from your money tree and send it over. goofy.gif

For 36 bux I hope you got at least a couple hundred of them huh.gif

Take one to a local nut & bolt (for sizing purposes) supplier and get SS versions, about a dime each at the most. Then send the high dollar sh!tty ones back to Honda for a refund.

I thought it was that easy mechdziner714 to be able to go to my local suppliers of bolts. Sad but true from what found the fairing bolts are not standard bolts with the sholders on them and flat/big heads to hold the fairings in place. Mechdziner714 or anyone if you can prove me wrong please do post details. LOL I did order eight of one and six of the other to get a total of $36 I let honda take advantage of me and have my money for some thing I thought I was getting..

I think the original ones might be zinc plated, but they're not chrome.

If you can return them, do so and swap them for the CBR1100XX Superblackbird ones - probably pricier, but they look sharp. Same basic design as the 4th Gen, but with 6 holes drilled around the outer part of the head.

I'm sure if I was in the business of selling them I'd have close-ups and part numbers, but I'm just a regular Joe, like you smile.gif

I have one BB fairing bolt at home, which is why I know about them. I'll take a pic of it tonight.

Try a Honda dealer, or track down a parts fiche, to get the part number.

I visited my local hardware store and found the chromed bolts i needed for way less than what honda wanted..

I'm all most convinced BB bolts are the way to go...Please post some pics of them though. I want to be sure they are for me and to verfiy they will fit on the locations I'm putting them. They look like they will only replace the bigger bolts. My originals on my 97 are chromed not zinc coated. For the rest of you if your going to mention other bolts please post details. blink.gif The BB bolts I think corretly found in the parts man. seem to be 90112-MAT-000 and are cheaper in price then the ones I purchased @ $1.92. Bonus ...look better @ a lower price. fing02.gif

LOL Just as I thought. You have not tried to find bolts at your local suppliers. I have with no luck.

I just placed a order for some BB bolts. Part #'s
1) 90112-MAT-000 (bigger bolts) orderd 8 @ $2.24 each
2) 90113-MAT-000 (smaller ones) orderd 6 @ $2.05 each
Total $22.96

LOL I ran my cordless drill dead doing all most every bolt on my bike last night and looking forward to doing more on the next cold rainy day I have noting better to do. I just used Mothers metal polish though insted of "Magic" 491.gif I still need the fairing bolts replaced though since the allen is striped on some. Also found this
