A local bike mag did a refreshing of one of the stafs bike, that hapens to be a 1990 VFR750F (RC36), and did a report of it. The bike had 80tkm on the clock (~49k miles) but in exelent condision. The only problem was suspension feeling soft effecting the handling, and the front brakes needed new brake pads.
Before they did the suspension thing they tested the brake distanse fron 100 km/h to zero. (60->0). The task was hard as the front easyly looked up, but the result of 14 attempts was 30,5 meter. longest 35meter, and shortest 29,5 meter.
Then they did the foliving:
Rear: New aftermarket shoch from WP (whitepower) whit hydraulic preload (788).
Fork: New springs (also WP 110) and new oil 5w (also WP).
Then they tried the braking again. The avarage stopping distanse was 29,5 meter, but the best part was constant under 31 meter stops, and the wheel looking was not a problem any more. The bike felt way more stable under brakeing.
Then they changed the front brake pads, ride the bike for 1500 km to let the pads seatle in and did the brake test again.
The stopping distanse was now down to 26,5 meter (best 25m, longest 29 meter).
The oweral feeling of the suspension uppgrade was the bike was more stabel and better handling and whit short stopping distanse. The only negativ was it felt the bike could have 50hp more in the engine, that big was the change in suspension action.

I'm surprised to have not seen that sort of test done before now. What a good example of the difference good suspension makes (it's not just about the corners!).

Do they plan to fit a radial-brake R1 front end with Ohlins shock and measure the improvement??? (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/491.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/491.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/491.gif)

And for that we also have an answer (well for 5th Gens anyway) - Torocharger (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)

Interesting info, thanks for posting it Keny.
