1986 Cowl And Fairing Swap

I have a 1986 VF500f and I'm wondering if the cowl and lower spoiler can be replaced with the cowl/fairing/lower spoiler setup from a 1986 VFR700F. Any info would be great. If this is not an option then what is the best way to build a set of fairings for the bike?

I seriously doubt the 700's plastic will fit the 500. Airtech makes an upper and chin fairing for the 500:

They also make a full fairing for it, but IMHO it ruins the look of the bike. I haven't bought anything from them, so I have no idea about the quality of their product.
