Well I finally went and purchased one of the JC Whitney top boxes last week. It doesn't look have bad. I paid $88 to my door.
It appears to be 42 litres and looks much like the GIVI one I had been wanting but couldn't justify the price.
It did come with an odd German x on the top which I removed. The sides has some ugly orange ribbon around the sides. I think I may remove it in the future.
For the money you can't beat it and it comes with a warranty from JC Whitney.
It mounted to my Honda rear rack with a little adaptation.
I purchased the Honda rack last summer for $40. It is the authenic Honda one that has the trunk up above the exhaust.
The new box will hold my helmet and riding gear if I do it right.
My thought is to have a place to leave my helmet and coat when I go to rallies.
Last year in Daytona I didnt feel comfortable leaving my jacket, pants and helmet on the bike. I didn't want to have to drag a chain around. My thought is I can take off the jacket and helmet and place them in the trunk.
Anyway it will be interesting to see how long it will last. I hopfully will not regret the purchase.
