Over the years this thread has been very popular, as time moves on we are at yet another year! Welcome 2008...

The Michigan thread was graciously hosted by its founder 2003_VTEC_RIDER who has recently taken up residence in wonderful Spring Hill, FL, I thought it might be a good idea to keep the thread alive and keep the Michigan area group together and hopefully get everyone motivated again for another fun filled season of riding in '08!

Lets hear it post away your ride requests and ideas for this year both local and group trips.

Thanks
Michael

I was going to start it again this year, but then all the wonderful weather I have here now, with the sun, and the warm temperatures distracted me and I forgot. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I will be more than happy to chime in though, and make sure to pick on all of you when you have snow.

Actually, I really miss you guys up there, and the weather. As strange as that might be for you to believe.

Quiet down, you. Mr. sunny, warm, bastage! LOL.

Go Kwame. POS. Like everyone forgot about the dead stripper, stolen Harley's, and other Mis. trash. Guess they did. He was re-elected.

Any-hoo,...

Hey all,
Sorry I was not able to join any rides last summer. Busy schedule with kids & work & all.
I saw a TV show on a great ride in the Canada area : See link below. Looks like it coudl be a nice 2 - 3 day ride. I am hoping to pick a weekend and a day to try this one. When summer gets closer, I will share it and see if anyone wants to join.

Might also consider catching the ferry at Tobermory and heading up towards Espanola. The Deer Loop through Elliot Lake and around to 129, then north along the Missisauga River to 101, west to Wawa, then back south on 17 is an incredibly beautiful ride.

Thanks, Michael, for starting a new 2008 thread!

Looking forward to getting out on some rides.

Seriously need an enclosed trailer so I can get somewhere south during these times for some riding!

Can only sit on the bike so long in the garage making motor sounds before it gets boring (and wife thinks I'm looney).

see you all soon -- Jeff

No worries Jeff, its nice to hear everyone chiming in, awaiting the warm weather.... im sure since everyone is active on this forum you may or may not know about the TEXMAC trip to deals gap on May 1st, but I thought since this group is local, there are a few of us planning on riding down there this year, so if there are any interested parties whom would like to tag along for the ride down please drop me a note! The hotel rooms are filing fast so please check it out, I wont double post, and you can read more about the trip here:

HI Trav, Michael --

Did you get out you bastage?! I left work early but had a honey do list a mile long. I blasted through it but then it started raining before I got the battery dropped back in.

993, you don't need no stinkin' trailer. Hell, if Trav is willing to ride down . . . . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/goofy.gif)

I kid Trav, I kid!

Seriously though, there's 3 of us riding down so far. . . me, Riv and Weasel. The more the merrier!

Unless you're bringing two bikes, one of which is a Duc 848. I prefer white, as do you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Is there interest in doing a VFR group track day? Local BMW group did it last year and is planning to do it again this year. Could be fun with mostly VFR riders on the track. My interest is simply to get some track time and improve skills. I have no desire to work toward racing, so looking to do a track day with group who has mostly similar interest. Or at least similar looking bikes... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif)

If I can get a free WERA day. Other than that, I plan on spending some pit time out at Grattan, and Nelson's ledges, helping and shoot'n some moral support to my bud. (Also gett'n corresponding video to compliment his on board set-up).

Hey Boys-
Good to hear from you all. I have been swamped (battery business and all) and haven't had alot of time to chill on the net. I have been wanting to got to tex this year and check it out but i have plans (ALREADY!!!) that the wife will not let me out of. I am trying to stay on her good side cuz i just bought a new dirt bike so i will be gone ALL of the time trying to get enought riding time between the two bikes! Wish me luck. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif) I will admit it is a good situation to be in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/offtopic.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/491.gif)

trekman5- I have a group of people (6) already enrolled in a riding class at gingerman on the 14-15 of July. I don't know if that tickles your fancy.
#14
Any chance someone from Iowa could hook up and ride with you guys?
#16
Hiya everyone! I'm hoping we can make it out to play this year. Tmac won't be in our schedule of events. :-( Bummer, as I really wanted to go. Ahh, the joys of being a responsible adult. (As I throw a hissy fit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pissed.gif) )

Anywho... hope everyone's bikes up here are tucked in nice and warm. Let's hope that the saying on my calendar is true:

Hey all,

It's been a long winter (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pissed.gif) ... but it always seems that way in Michigan. Anyway, I am hoping to get out tomorrow with jstanwood for a while to get my riding legs back on. Also, I wanted to take this time to see if any of you here in MI are interested in an Iron Butt Ride this summer. A friend of mine (who has a harley) would like to do accomplish this sometime late May or June this year. I just want to know if any of you are willing to join us in our adventure. We will be leaving from Kalmazoo and going to Nashville and back. That will put us around 1060 miles. Just trying to figure out all who may be interested so I know how much planning to do.... Let me know??

Lobster, Apr 4 2008, 09:55 AMHowdy Boys and Girls!!!

I was out for 70 miles yesterday! First ride of the season. She fired right up and felt great. Need to get some more miles to get ready for my big trip down south in 6 weeks.

I'm also moving in about 2 weeks...to Pinckney.

Ahhh,....Pinky. "What are we gonna do in 2 weeks, Brain?"
"The same thing we do every 2 weeks, Pinky,...."

Heading down to Tepmerance, tomorrow or Sunday. LOL. Picture this,... my buddy bought a zzr 600, and I'm going out to help him with some ride tips, as he's just got his temp. license. Prolly get his suspension, dialed in a bit too, It's WAY off. The front is like a trampoline.

Lobster,

Just wondering if you do any mountain biking, you know, the kind with pedals?

If so, would you like to meet up sometime to ride the trails there in Pinckney?

Actual ride alert!

Sunday, we're meeting at Rivcyko's house and getting our legs under us. It's supposed to be in the 60's and sunny. PM me or Riv for details.

Bret, good to hear from you. I do have a cheap mtn bike. I'd be willing to give it a go if you promised to take it easy on me!

Sounds like a deal. It will have to be in the summer sometime but I plan on heading that way a few times to hit Potawatomi. Lane and I was there once, long ago, and as I recall, it kicked our butts back then. I've gotten older since, but hopefully wiser too!

Will keep in touch about this possibility.

A new Michigan guy! Woo hoo! Just buy it! You won't regret it. We regularly come within a short drive of Flint. . . hell I'm from Toledo and ride with this group of misfits all the time! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) For the record, you don't have to have a VFR to ride with us. If you have a bike you're welcome to go with us.
[/quote]

i do not have a bike right now. i got off a Harley last year and the want to ride is biting me bad. i cant do another cruiser and i cant do a full on sport bike because of my back. i have chose the VFR and am ready to check one out real good. thanks again

Morning, Sunday, Sept. 28??

S.E. Michigan tour?

Weather should be good.

-- Jeff

I'll entertain that thought. . . I'm hoping to get some dirt riding in this weekend with my son too though. Chime in guys. . . especially those of you from Ypsitucky. . . and where's Jeph? Larry? Michael?

It's gonna be cold soon fellas.

supercoupe5, Sep 23 2008, 09:31 PMis there anyone on here close to the Flint area? i am very interested in getting a VFR but have not been able to see one in person other than in the showroom and it was not preped so i could not even hear it run. heck it did not even have a battery in it so i could not even turn on the key to see the dash lit up. if there are any takers that would let me check out there bike let me know. thanks

Sorry I haven't been around fellas, lot of bew sheet going on in the foolio household. Recently found out that the wife is pregnant w/ #2. so there has been been alot of preparing. No worries though no plans on selling the bike.
I would love to go riding this weekend cuz ur right, it is going to get cold soon.

BTW riv- It wasn't me riding around your area. I unfortunately have only put on about 500 miles this year. When i do ride it has been at the track.

#33
Time and place?
#34
Sunday is my suggestion. Time, I don't care but earlier works better for me (leaving family time for the afternoon).
#35
Life has been pretty sucky for me lately...due to work. Ruined our vacation (and shortened by three days) and I have been away mroe than I have been home for the last 8 weeks. I've ridden one time since the "rabbit" trip. Sunday is my son's birthday so I'm out for the ride. Plus my tires are totally overcooked and I'm too cheap to go buy new ones. I may be out for the remainder of the season.

Have fun.
#36
Sunday works best for me also. And the morning also works best for too. So where?
#37
You guy's are ALWAYS welcomed to launch from my lair. Clear lake rd., area, is always nice. (But done to death). LOL.
#38
I'm fine with Ypsi, or anything else!

I'd volunteer to lead a more northern route, but there is still a slight chance that I can't make it (finalizing child-watching plans, as wife is out of town).

I'll keep an eye here for a place and time, and hope to see a bunch of V4's on Sunday morning.

see ya -- Jeff
#39
OK, I'm in. See the kitchen pass thread to find out HOW I'm in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) What I'm "envisioning" (beer induced visions) is meeting at Trav's only because that's the only house I've been to in MI. Rumor mill has it that Weasel only lives a few miles from there though. At least show up Weasel! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

New rule when we're riding together. You can't talk to me at stop lights/stop signs. I have Skull Candy ear buds and won't be able to hear a thing you say. Of course, I might not hear sirens and flashing lights either. . . I'll need your help here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/goofy.gif)

Don't care either way fellas. Let's ride before it snows.

Know what sucks? I'm already scared of it snowing.

I'm trail riding with my son tomorrow if anyone's available. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/goofy.gif)
#40
Launch, from, "the lair", is cool, unless Jeph has a good rout, and wants to host.
My address, (for those who don't know), is:

1629 Mollie St.
Ypsilanti, Michigan 48198

How's a move-out time of 10 sound? Not too early, not too late.

I'm making a stop in Ann Arbor on the way to pick up my buddy John.

We'll be there by 10 (or I'll give you a ring if we're off schedule).

#43
I can't do it Trav. Already committed to my other riding partner (my son). We'll be on the trails early tomorrow morning. I'll catch up with you guys soon though. Sorry guys.

Cool. Thanks guys! (Or one guy here). LOL. Nice to meet John. Sorry again about the exhaust. Map's a bit rich at Idle. And the wide opened pipes don't help keeping it out of one's face.

AND........... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SAMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed...the only ride I got in this year with the Michigan bunch was the infamous Rabbit Incident trip...still have guts on my wheels and cat...
#51
What sucks is putting the bikes away. I only got a couple rides in with the MI guys (can you say Tree Fort?) but I'm excused. . . I'm from Ohio. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I had a realization last night. I was thinking, damn it's DECEMBER! But then I realized, you can't have Spring without putting up with December, January, February and March! Only a few nasty months left before it's time to ride again.

Larry, now that you're famous from your exclusive deal to supply the Red Wings with extenders, I can't wait to ride with you again! Maybe you can start to make skate sliders to protect their skate boots from the ice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Seriously, would love to see you again man.

Start thinking about early May fellas. . . there's usually a ride somewhere down south (TMac) from what I hear!
#52
Are any of you guys up for a ride this weekend if the rain holds off? I need to get a new chain on the bike but that won't be a problem as long as I can rent the tool from Nicholsons(or one of you have one?).

I live in Jackson, MI but am up for anything from Lansing, Ann Arbor, Dundee, to even Kalamazoo. Let me know.

Wow...you have WAY too much trust in the weather man...you must be a recent import!

Seriously I would love to...if I weren't working Saturday all day and night and Sunday night and taking the kids to HD for the building project Saturday morning and...and...and...

You may be interested to know that I will be working in Downtown Jackson both nights this weekend.

We'll corrall F Bomb boy and Frame Slider boy before too long and go hit it...tell the Rabbits to look both ways before they cross!
