2003_VTEC_Rider, Mar 9 2006, 12:51 PMHey everyone, I know its short notice, but would any of you guys be interested in getting together this weekend (Sunday) and maybe having a meet and greet and going out for a bit of a ride. Right now, the current forecast is in the low 60's and fairly dry.
Let me know what you guys think, and if you want, either post it here, or PM me and I will try and arrange it.

How about a CAN AM meet in London, several of us toronto types are likely to be out and about.

Have to see how exising priorities are going: pinewood derby car for son, house painting, prepare for west coast biz trip next week.
So count me as a definite maybe.
Off Topic, did anyone else get the movie 'Faster' for xmas? Been watching pieces of it...great stuff on motoGP. Love those powerslides out of corners with the rear tire smoking!
I had to pick the warmest weekend of the year so far to get my bike in for service...I'll be working my 2nd job anyway...part time front counter clerk at the Century Bowl in Waterford...maybe you guys should ride in and bowl a few frames?
I really would, but I can't get into Cananda right now, I don't have a copy of my birth certificate, they won't let me cross. Now, if you guys can head over here, hell yes, we can meet up.

I crossed a few weeks ago with nothing but my drivers license. They asked me where I was born and off I went.
Hmm, it sure looks like Saturday is going to be a nice day. Too bad the Daytona 200 has to fall on such a nice and warm March day. I think I'm going to have to tape it and watch it later so as to get my first high milage ride of year under my belt.

Well lets see using the following it may be possible.
Toronto - Windsor time by vehicle:
Car (average driver) 3hrs 15 min Car (my best squid era performance) 1hr 55 min
Motorcycle untested (average driver 20% faster that the cages) 2.5hrs Motorcycle (post squid era, but still cooking) 1hr 45 min Motorcycle (Ultimate squid come grease stain) 1 hr 20 min
Man those are declining returns considering you are 8-15 times more likely to encounter another object trying to occupy the same time and place.
ihilker, Mar 11 2006, 12:53 PMHow ironic is this! I am the one stuck indoors today while you bastages get to ride. Freakin rain! I know I shouldn't complain but it just plain sucks. I missed you while you were in town theoxmole, nice pipes btw. Well I have another half hour to kill before Formula Xtreme starts. Have a nice ride.
Hard to believe anyone from CA is going to complain about MI weather! goofy.gif
We'll send you some pics of the 10" of snow we get next month...then we'll see if he complains! laugh.gif
All right guys, let me know what is going on. I am ready to go any time, made my whole day free. I would like to do something early in the morning and ride throughout the day, they are saying mid 60's here.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Jeff...I sent you a PM yesterday to count me in. Not sure how early you want to start...weather report says morning showers with afternoon partly cloudy. PM me with details. Ron
I'm going out in about an hour but I'm more than willing to hit some roads tomorrow morning. The earlier the better. I've got "family duty" later in the afternoon. I'm watching this thread like a hawk!

Hey guys, most recent report says early morning showers, ending by like 7 am. I am thinking that I would like to get together some time like 8:30-9am and go from there.
Let me know how that sounds for everyone, and if that will work, or we want to do a little later in the morning (oxmole, I know that's a pretty early start for you), then just let know.
Is it spring yet? Man I need to clean my VFR up! She needs some new shoes too! Heres the last ride I took on that one nice day we had. Weasel and I went for a short cruise... [image: Posted Image] border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Words of advice: don't ever crash your bike right before it gets warm out. You miss out on stuff like this! http://www.vfrdiscus...tyle_emoticons/default/sad.gif
I will have to double check my schedule now. My g/f is supposed to be working 10:30-2:30 on Sunday. After that though, I should be good. Tomorrow I have to do some painting at our old condo (know anyone that wants to rent a two bedroom two bath place?).
Let me know guys, I am around. Right now the plan is to meet at my placve around 2pm, and leave at around 3. I figure this will give us a chance to plan a good route and get out and ride while the weather is the nicest for the day.
PM me, and I can get you my address, etc.
Later,
Jeff

It just doesn't seem right to disgrace the VFR that way. Besides, how could I go from riding the best colored bike in the group to the junkyard beast?! :goofy:
Have fun guys. It should be nice tomorrow. I'm sure we'll have more than one get together this summer, I'll be at those.
get out and ride!!! fairings or not, mine still does not have the side fairings on from when i changes the engine case ( had an issue with the rubber inserts moving so i ordered some new ones and they arent here yet) and i have ridden a few times, i just couldnt help myself.
I haven't had it out for a general check of how things work yet. Fellas, I would LOVE to go. If you remember, I was on my way to Jeff's house "at the time of the incident" (the map to his house is still on my tank bag). I was planning on getting it out around the block a couple of times tomorrow anyway, to do that quick check but as for a few hundred miles, I'm not sure she's ready yet.
Since I live on the border of Ontario and MI I hope to get to ride with you guys. I have got out about 5 times already this year.Thats gotta be a record for up here.
I'm in the cleveland area, I don't know how far away you are, but I'm all about meeting up with other's on the site and whatsuch. How far away is the detroit area where the rest of you guys are? I've only been on the VFR for 1 and 1/2 hours at a time, and don't know how far/long I can go before I say fudge it. Get at me anyone.

I live in the Metro Detroit area and my cage trips to/from Cleveland generally take about 2.5 to 3 hours. Not sure what suburb of Cleveland you're in, but from the west side along the Ohio Turnpike to Toledo is about 90 minutes, and it's another 90 minutes on I-75 north to Detroit. If Lake Erie weren't in the way, it would be a lot shorter. :goofy:
I am sure that we can come up with something if you wanted to come over. I have a big house, I am sure I could find a place for you to crash for a night.
I am looking over routes right now. Hopefully the weather will stay all right for most of the day. Might not be really warm, but 50+ and I want to get out of the house.

Taking the turnpike, you can be in the Toledo area in about 2 1/2 hours. . . in a car. I was actually thinking of planning a ride, solo or otherwise, up to the Port Clinton area down St. Rt. 105. That would cut your driving time to meet up too. However, I'm leaving on the bike for Florida on 4/13, so it would have to be a little closer to summer. I'll keep you in mind! :goofy:
Hi everyone. Thought that I would let everyone know that we went out today, and ended up just with 3 of us. I took some of the local guys out on a ride to some of the backroad curvy spots I know. I am pretty sure everyone had a good time, :D
Here are some pics of us before we headed out. I have to thank my wonderful girlfriend for taking the pics for us.
It was really cool to see 3 VFR's in my driveway, and hopefully I can make it a few more some time this year.

You guys suck. I didn't get mine out today for the quick shake down because the family took all my time before the rain hit.
Hope you guys had fun!

Hey Ox - if it makes you feel better - I got out for about an hour today...... :P
I'd love to hook up with you guys one weekend. I'd make it an overnight deal though - I'm 3 1/2 hours of straight boring (high speed mind you) slab to Windsor/Detroit. I'll keep an eye open for you guys posting up your next gathering.
Had a great time! Thanx! Nice to meet you Ron! LOL. Got outta there, almost in time. Hit the down pour 'bout 10 mi, from home. Good to dry off and warm-up. LOL. Just got her waxed too!. And now, another pic!
Glad you guys go out today. I had my first solo flight of the season today as well.Mind you it was a short ride but it cured that PMS that was hitting me for the past five months.
Hope to hook up with you michigan boys later on in the season. :goofy:

23S to exit 27. That's Milan. Where Trav is planning to meet up, well that's up to Trav.
Trav,
N. Main and 14? I see me coming in Plymouth Rd. to Main and turning right. I'm just not aware of any "parking spots" there.
Oh yeah, count me in fellas. Just don't laugh at my dirty bike; I just took it off a rain soaked trailer and haven't had a chance to wash it up. But hell, you guys are talking about meeting late by my standards; I'm usually in Ann Arbor by 6 AM. I might have time to wash it before I leave!
See you tomorrow. . . if I make it all the way there without crashing!
Got all the gear ready. New frame slider attached. Now I'm going to bed to "envision" tomorrow's ride. My "vision" WILL NOT include any human frame sliding!
All right, for you early risers and forum checkers.
What is the plan, where and when type thing. I will have to wait till around 1 or so to leave. I might be able to get out of the house a bit early if my g/f is on the way here.
LOL. Sorry about the display, on the ride out. LOFL! I Thought it was great that Ox is like, "Beep...Beep", as he rides off, down Carpenter road, prolly think'n, "The damn E-way is right next to me, why can't I find a way onto it! If I weren't in trouble already,..." LOL.
Ox, sorry if I got you in trouble. Show the wife this thread. IT WAS MY FAULT.
To Mrs. Theoxmole,
Humblest appologies. My Fault.
Dirt road. LOL. As in, "Weeeee,...dirt road".
Ron, 2003,
Sorry thought you guys were take'n 94-275, not 23-14. "OOOhhh, your'e miss'n the exit!"
Most gracious, "thank-yous", To Fz1gpt, and Manda. Most excellent. You guys rock!
:D
Slight bilp 1/16 throtttle, then all out. She'll come right-up.
Had a tag along that joined us on N. Territorial. An R-1. Figured he'd blow past us, but he kept formation. I was in back, and let him forward, as I didn't want to spoil the twisties, with my slow a$$. (He had shown not to be a stranger to a group ride). (Got to be weary of these things). Didn't want to put my buds in jeopardy.
Yes, like normal great to see everyone. Hopefully next time we will all get out and get a good ride in. Maybe we can get a few other viffers there, and hit some twisties. :D
Excellent ride! Good work Riv; the road were fun and I'll never talk bad about someone who takes the initiative to plan one of these. Welcome new member fz1gpt. Your hospitality and riding skills rock. Don't get me started on your custom bodywork and your '64 Triumph. . .
The day started off as any other. . . my wife woke me up at 9:00 and said, "So you're not going riding today?" :squid: Luckily, I had all my gear laid out the night before and jumped to it ASAP. I headed north and, after 30 minutes of searching, ran into Riv and FZ1gpt at a small carry out.
We rode some of the curviest roads available in Michigan. Phenomenal roads. I had no idea they existed. Thanks Riv. And for you asphalt rippers, try to hang with us! We can go from asphalt to dirt in the blink of an eye!
After about 250 miles we arrived at fz1gpt's house. I spent a good hour slobbering on his carbon fiber work and Triumph. That's when VipeRon and 2003_VTEC_Rider showed up. We shared stories and beers for quite awhile.
Big kudos to dear Amanda and fz1gpt for the brats and other food. Good eats and, if given more time, I would have helped with the porch.
He had something to prove but wouldn't run with us!
For those that can't tell, it's a battery powered Harley-look-alike. If it was a Harley, the results would have been the same but the little kid had no idea.
The "meet" ran later than I had expected and had told the wife and I got a late start for home. We agreed to roll out of town, four VTECs strong and hit the road. Riv, you're still a squid! :goofy: BTW, I'm getting a 15 tooth sprocket ASAP! I missed my on-ramp as a function of wanting to ride with the guys and ended up taking a 30 minute ride that lasted an hour. Oh well. It's all good.
As Riv would put it, Mrs. Theoxmole, was in a tizzy when I got home. But hey, sometimes you have to pay the piper.
Can't wait to do it again. Next meet is at my house; ALL bikes welcome (that's you fz1gpt). I'm thinking May 13. We'll hit up Honda East for some free food, dry humping their bikes and a ride down the famed River Road from Waterville to Grand Rapids. If you're lucky, we may run into Bunsel.
Let me reiterate, that FZ1 is the cat's ass! The body work is out of this world. I hope you are all lucky enough to see it in person some day.
Edited to include the following facts:
1) My daughter and I washed the crap out of the bike today.
2) I put some wax on it after it dried.
3) My bike kicks ass.
Take that Jeff! It's clean AND faster than a red bike!
Don't know if I can make a May 13 ride (mother's day weekend..).
But, let's get some planning on a May 6 or 7th ride in the northern sections of Oakland county. I've been scouting routes, and will put something good together. If weather cooperates, let's get an early start and get a jump on the 4-wheeled types.
I'll stock my garage fridge for some after-ride refreshments.
I need to get pics of a bunch of bikes in my drive!
Let me know what you want to do, I should be able to make it. If you need some help planning that route, let me know. I have some tricky curvy roads up my sleeve (Riv and Ron know where, smile.gif ) and I am sure that we could put together something fun.
Maybe we divide and conquer: You can plan a 'southern' routh (say, south of 12 mile), and I'll plan a 'northern' route in my neck of the woods, perhaps heading up through white lake, highland, holly, etc.
Let me know. I was out running some roads last night, getting used to the new tires. Very nice compared to the old bricks that were on it when I bought it last year.
Funny you mention it, I ride up your way most of the time. We should put our heads together and see what roads we know in common. I know some pretty technical curvy spots out your way.
D-oh! Not try'n to spoil anything but,...That is the weekend of the bike rally and $20 dyno runs, in Toledo. Figured if we got enough different configurations, (even with the in-accuracy of the dyno), we sould be able to get a solid idea of pony increases, from P.C.s, exhausts, etc. :joystick:

I'd be open to a morning / early afternoon ride, assuming the bike gets done in time (still waiting on exhaust and brake pads, then just my labor to install). I have to work Saturday evening at 6. I'll monitor the thread and keep you updated...I'd really like to burn a few hondo miles into my new tires...
You guys should come up and bowl the special Sunday night at Century Bowl. Not that I get a bonus for plugging or anything...I don't. But we're giving away $200 worth of gas cards that night. For $10 you get to bowl from 9-midnight as much as you want (plus shoe rental). Someone's going to win some gas money, here's hoping it's one of you guys.
Are you in for this Saturday, May 6th, morning ride?
I'm working on a route, starting near union lake (conveniently my place!), and running through/around: milford, highland, white lake, and perhaps up to holly area.
Should be a good loop. Going to pre-run in the next couple of days, nail down refreshment stops, etc.
Jeff, let me know if you have any specific stretches of road to include.
