65,000 miles and original suspension.
That should be 'nuff said about why it's time. goofy.gif

Hunting around online, Hard Racing has a 20% off deal on Ohlins this month.
for my bike, $1061 - 20% = $849 + shipping of ???.
Steep but doesn't sound bad for Ohlins, WTF.
Not sure which kit or thing I would need for the fork internals.
Gotta do both ends though.

It doesn't have to be Ohlins, but I want the kind good she it.
I don't want to attempt the work. Would much rather hand the bike and parts off to someone that knows what they're doing.
And someone who can help me adjust it to suit after installation. Because I will probably set it and forget it.

I'm ready to pass some cash. Help me out spend it. What to buy? Who to do the work? What to do? comp13.gif

Also if the Torocharger kit becomes reality,
I'd like to go there! beer.gif
But that's another chapter.

If you want the best, send your bike off to Dan Kyle or Aftershocks and let them set everything up for you. You want at least springs in the front(Sonic, RaceTech, Ohlins), with new seals and bushings(and oil, of course!). For the next level up, do the RaceTech Gold Valves too.

Having a pro shop do it will pretty much ensure that it's set up well for you and your style of riding.

What features are you looking for in a shock, and what is your approximate weight?

I have an Ohlins 46DRS(has remote hydraulic pre-load, and rebound damping), very low miles, have the original papers and book. I've been wanting compression adjustment, but need to sell my shock to someone before I can lay out the dough for the "next size up". Send me a Pm if you're interested!

I wouldn't rule out a second hand shock. Might work.
Hard Racing shows the shock # as 46HRCS. I have no idea what the difference is. goofy.gif

Unless someone local wants to volunteer to be lead mechanic on the work for cash money,
with me playing apprentice, I'll be taking it to a local shop, or at least not too far of a truck, to do the work. unsure.gif

FWIW, I'm about 155 pounds plus gear. So maybe 170 geared up? Moderately aggressive rider, but no Rossi or BaileyRock. biggrin.gif

Lee, get a Penski and I will help you put it on. I am very happy with mine, but I was also happy with my Ohlins on my 954.

That's almost perfect, as I'm right around 200#, and I would like a stiffer spring than what is on there. This shock has only been used for a few thousand miles, I just put it on last August or September, and it was brand new then. Again, pm me if interested. fing02.gif

Wait a sec... you have a 5th gen, doncha? Hmm. Less hassle if you get one meant for your bike... looks like you got help too! fing02.gif

5th Gen Seb. fing02.gif

Lewis, you da man with the mechanical stuff. Working on bikes with you was a pleasure. fing02.gif
Relative to working on my own, which is sometimes a cuss fest. pissed.gif

I just hate to feel like I'm taking advantage and making a friend work for free.
I can't do that. rolleyes.gif

Plus, I'm leaning to riding it in and handing it off.

Maybe AIP, around the corner from me.

I would get a Penske sprung and valved for your weight and ring style, and the forks sprung and revalved for your weight and style.

At that mileage, also make sure and check out all the small things. Check and replace bearings if needed, steering, swingarm, etc.
