So, who will be up for a ride then? I have not ridden in a group for a while. Lets get something together. I'm thinking Palomar and Montezuma. I might be a little slower then normal as I haven't taken a "spirited" ride in a while. I have some Pilot Powers that are over a month old and I still have chicken strips on them. I'll have to fix that. So who is in?

My VFR is going in for the recall hopefully at the end of this week. Provided I can get her back and ride before that point, I'm in.
Last time I went out w/Chuck I was a little shaky going up and over Palomar. I went out this weekend after I recharged the battery and filled the tires w/air and was alright. I didn't get into anything technical, just out past Ramona & back. Next thing to do is check the suspension settings....
My band is playing in the OC that weekend (friday & saturday) so I wont be up for any early rides. it's usually about 3am when I get to bed after a gig.
the following weekend Judy & I may ride up the coast to Solvang and go to the motorcycle museum, return on sunday night.
I wish I had something other than sport touring tires on the Beemer. Cant really afford to get some new skins with my recent donations to the state, not to mention the michelins that are on there are practically new.

No biggie man. I'll call the day I get back if I am still awake. I've got a long day on the 12th. I fly from Djibouti to Ethiopia (1 hour), Ethiopia to Rome for a quick stop then to London (9 hours), then London to LAX (11hours 15 minutes), then LAX to Carlsbad (45 minutes). It's going to be one long day. But hey, at least I'm flying Business and First class the whole way (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .
So, who is still in? I can't ride all day as my anniversary is the next day and I'm taking my wife to Downtown San Diego at around 4PM that day and coming back the next afternoon.

I am guessing that we (meaning I) must have missed it when I put her back together way back in August. The CoolingJuiceDrainagePlug™ must have worked itself free....so I'm dripping cooling juice after all my rides....

Chuck, you must have looked long and hard for that tiny little copper crush washer :-) I went and got one yesterday; I'm going to get me a bucket for the CoolingJuice™ and take care of the crush washer tonight so I can NOT leak CoolingJuice™ all the way to Irvine tomorrow and so I can ride w/youz allz on Saturday. See ya on Saturday in the AM.

Actually, It wasn't the coolant drain-plug after all. It was my oil filter. I was only able to get it "finger" tight when I did my oil back in November. This evening, I tore it all down, got my hand in there, and gave it a crank to ensure it's now "hand" tight. We'll see tomorrow after I ride out to Rancho Bernardo for a meeting...
Ride report; yesterday the weather was perfect! not today! heavy overcast looking more like rain. cool temps and breezy. windy in the mtns and desert. 9:30am came and went. kr0nus and i rode uo to the park n RIDE on pala/mission ave. if someone went there by mistake. no, no one there either. we did talk to a group of sport bike riders who were all going to the big sportbike show in san diego. they were right, mtn was empty of sport bikes (about ten of us total!) and a whole bunch of bicycle riders...................... kr0nus and i rode up the tight side and arrived at mothers as the only other motorcycle departed. a couple of minutes later two groups of two bikes arrived. we rode a good speed down the fast side and out to montezuma grade, which was windy but not hot as i was expecting (but warm in borrego sprgs). we had to pass several vehicles going down montezuma grade but still had a fun ride. in borrego we went to lunch at carlie's, prices aren't cheap, but i kept it down. up montezuma at a great pace (this made the whole day worthwhile!!!!!!!!!) and headed the long road home. (skipped palomar on return ride). got home at 2pm (175 miles roundtrip) and napping by 2:30pm and back up at 4:30pm. now three hours later, had dinner and all, and i am still tired as hell and can't hardly wait untill bed time! AND thats why i always love riding with kr0nus...............I GET MY MONIES WORTH. THANKS!!!!!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif)
Sounded like a fun ride. Here's how mine went: Left the house a little later than I wanted to because the video camera wasn't cooperating, so I ditched it. Arrived at Gopher Cyn about 9:35am turned West because that's the way the arrow pointed for Gopher Cyn. Rode into town and realized this was not right. Turned around, went under the freeway (Old castle road, not Gopher Cyn) and saw the park 'n ride, a tiny little dirt lot, no bikes, it's now 9:45. I dash up to Hwy 76 and head to the park n ride next to the Mobil. Tons of bikes/cops, no VFRs, it's now 10:00 and I know I've missed the ride.
I fuel up at the Mobil and head off to Palomar hoping to catch up, but I get stuck behind like a dozen cars doing 30mph, and with all the CHPs sitting on the side of the road, I wasn't going to chance anything. Well, I've only been up Palomar twice, and it was always with the VFRD group, so think I missed a turn cause I ended up at Hwy 79 around the backside of the mtn.
At this point, I was done and just headed home. Beautiful scenery on 79, but yeah the frontside was damp and cold, bone chilling cold.
Now, I'm not upset at anybody here, (I have no reason to be), I'm just upset at the situation of a wasted day. Everytime I've been on one of these rides we've met up at the Mobil, now the meeting point changes, and I get all turned around and miss the ride. I'm just saying, if we are going to ride Palomar, let's set a DEFAULT meeting location, and leave it there. That way people who aren't familiar with the area have an easy, reliable meeting point.
Oh well, at least we have a track day coming up. Woohoo!!!!

Sorry man. We were waiting at the Gopher Canyon Park and Ride, but then Chuck suggested that you might have been at the other one so we went there. We should have waited a little bit longer. I should have told you that the Park and Ride is on the East side of the freeway.
From now on I think that the Park and Ride at Gopher Canyon should be the meeting point. The only reason why I say that is because when we meet at the Mobil/76 we take the 76 down and I hate taking that route, there is always too many cars on 76 in between the 15 and Pala (where the fun twisty parts are). Meeting at Gopher Canyon is a better route IMO even though it goes through Center City. Still, you don't get stuck behind cars on the twisty parts.
Interesting, I didn't know there was a different way up to the mountain. As long as there are no stupid slow cars, it's all good. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif)

Turns out the VFR wasn't still leaking. I pulled the body-work off & needed a flashlight to see up into where we were working back in November. The good news is, no leaks = good to go. I would have thought about it the entire ride.
