Lowered Pegs...

Whats the opinion on lowering the pegs, and the best way to do it? I have heard Buell pegs mentioned here as an easy way to do this, how much would this reduce your cornering clearance? I am about 6' 4", and love the vfr, but my legs get a bit cramped on longer rides at times. I suspect I fit on a vfr the way shorter people fit on a CBR, I tried sitting on a CBR, felt like a pretzel.

I love mine. How far over do you get?

i have the BLS lowering mounts. first, his quality is unbelievable. it really looks like it came from the factory that way. next, i am 6'2" and have lots of joint issues. the BLS mounts along with the heli bars, allows me enough range of motion that i can still ride a sport bike all day without major issue. last of all, i ride reasonably agressive and hang of the bike alot. i ride edge to edge on my PP's and almost never drag my pegs (i did remove the hero blobs off the pegs though).

well worth it to me.

+1 for this. The BLS pegs are very nicely made and work like a charm for me - 6'1".

Sounds good, where do you get them, how much are they, and how much work are they to install.

I am not a very aggressive rider, have around half an inch of chicken strips on the tires, still learning the bike's and my capabilties. so not to worried about the clearance now from the remarks made here, thanks for the fast replies

If you're not leaning much, you colud always do the BLS mod, and add Buell pegs.

BLS lowering blocks for me too.

I removed the hero blobs, but replaced them with allen head bolts, screwed in flush with the footpegs.

Can you guess which side has the BLS lowering block installed and which does not?
Both feet are firmly on the footpegs.

I went with the Buell foot pegs on my '98 VFR. A little grinding is necesary, but it only takes about 20 minutes to grind and install them. They provide another full inch in drop, and only cost about $34.00 for a pair through your local HD dealer.

Some guys don't think the castings are strong enough, and feel they can break too easily. I haven't had that experience, but I'm no kneedragger either. I also installed Helibars, which give about 1.5" more height, and move the bars back about 1" or so. The combination of the Buell pegs and Helibars provides a very comfortable and sustainable riding position for my 6'1" 220 lb. aging body.

By the way, I think I paid $220.00 on a group buy for the Helibars, which I believe normally go for $279.99.

Look at the stock peg feeler length. You can "safely" lowered the pegs down to that level and not run a feeler and still maintain stock
"warning" height. Get it?

I run Buell pegs on my 4gen but had to shave them down some to fit inside the stock hangers.

I find the BLS design to be umm....... not my cup of tea shall we say. Another possibility with multiple adjustments are these:

I've seen them on ebay for $180 or so. With the sinking dollar that may have changed.

I bought a pair, sent them to be powdercoated, and promptly set them on a shelf. But they really are nice... I just got used to the bike and don't need them anymore.
