Sucks To Live Close To Work

I rode my VFR to work for the first time yesterday. The problem is, it almost takes me longer to put on my gear than it takes me to get there. I only live ten minutes from work, and that is not near long enough to enjoy the ride on the VFR. On the way home, I tried taking "The Long Round" to get home. Anyone else have that problem? When you ride a VFR, work should be at least an hour away.

My house is exactly 1.3 miles from my place of employment, but I ride all summer long. The shortest route I ever take to get there is 8 miles -- unless I'm late for a meeting or something. I like to get it warmed up to at least 150 deg. during the ride, and the 8 mile route is usually sufficient for that. Those early morning rides are great because it's not so hot and there is very little traffic.

I only live five miles from work, it sucks!! It definitley takes longer to put the gear on than it does to get there. Sometimes I'm half tempted just to throw the helmet on and go. It would be just my luck though to get hit or go down.

I have the same problem. I am about 8kms from work, and I am usually there in less than 10 minutes. I keep thinking that the ride is too short, and then winter comes and I thank my stars that I don't have to put up with the snow for too long! I guess taking the long way home makes me feel better about living so close:)

Yeah, I live 6 min from work. I'm a Service Tech and I have all of my tools in my car, so I can't take my bike. Sucks.

Sometimes I'll leave for work about an hour and a half early... Just cause I can.

Last year I made it a habit to leave work a little early and take the scenic way home, added 100 miles to the commute but it was a great way to relieve stress!

I'm 25min from work, but usually get there in 15... :goofy: The way home, on the nicer days usually takes about 30-45min.

I like living close to the office.

I have a 1/2 hour ride each way to work, but its ALL twisties thank goodness :biggrin: The time it takes to get out of the gear when you get to work, and then back into it before you leave really sucks. I have alter ego overpants to go over the dress pants, but by the time I change into my riding boots and strip down to a tshirt so my jacket is comfortable I could have been 1/2 way home in the car. Ahhhh the sacrafice we make :biggrin:

It's 2 hours each way for me. I'm doing 1000 klms/week. I have a friend like you guys with a CB900 that travels 2klms to work and 2klms home. His bike is 4 years old and has 11 000klms on the clock. It's starting to blow blue smoke.

I'm 50 miles one way to work. Unfortunately it through Nashville on I-65. Get boring but I do get to play on clinical days and have racked up 250 mile through the rural roads.

I live approximately 11 miles from work. My riding solution is to change my route almost everyday. Sometimes you gotta take the long way to work and leave from home 1/2 hour earlier...... This sometimes adds about 10 miles distance to your daily commute, but its worth it. :fing02:

I live around 60 miles from my work. Takes me about 45 minutes to get there by car, but around an hour on the bike. Of course I leave earlier and arrive home later when I take the bike to work (usually Fridays cuz I can wear jeans to work that day).

well, I will be riding to work in Hurricane Hanna in a few minutes. Not sure how I feel about distance from work right now.

God has blessed me with a 22 mile commute, all twisties, no traffic :biggrin:
