Anyone order from Discount Motorcycle Tire on the internet?  Any concerns?  Success?

I ordered from them last year.  Had no problems.  Good price & were delivered within 7 days.

They had a few growing pains when they upgraded their operation, a few problems arose from technical issues.  they sent an email to all their customer to explain what had happened and to try to win back their business.  I do know they expanded quite a bit to make the operation smoother.

I am not affiliated with them in any way but I do support Local businesses, Always Buy Colorado - except MAW.

I plan to replace my D204 rear with a D220 and keep my front D204.  Anway, the best I could do thru a local dealer was $189.  Discount Motorcycle Tire has the D220 rear listed at $104 plus shipping.  Can't beat that!

I'd get rid of that 204 while your at it. �I didn't realize how bad they actually were until I replaced the stock 204s with the BT020s.

I've been getting tires from ronayers.com but they (or at least the person I spoke with) couldn't offer expedited shipping so I tried dma.  I paid $10 extra to get a front 208 in time for a trip to the ozarks.  Came in three days.  Regular internet ordering is about 7 days to me.  Just got in a set of maxxis superMaxx's (WTF) which I hope to scuff in this weekend.  No problems, good prices.

The shipping is free when you purchase 2 tires, which brings the total price much lower than Discountmotorcycletires.

Their tires seemed freshier, less weathered, and came in a box instead of just tied up. I give them 2 thumbs up.

Personally I would rather skip the box, more trash to deal with. I am sure they dont have them in a box up on the rack, so its only for the trip. Toss the cardboard and then you put it on your bike and start riding on it in the rain, dirt, heat?  Its a tire Why waste cardboard on a tire?  But then again you can see punctures in the cardboard if some kid at UPS thinks it is funny to try out his swiss army on your tire.

Bought a set of M1s from Discount Motorcycle Tire, they had shipped me the wrong size rear tire.  But they took care of the problem right away.

I'll buy from them in future.

Get rid of the front 204  :shake:
Not good to have something sticky on the back and a 204 on the front.  Bad things can happen.

Even if you can't tell the difference due to slow cornering, all the dudes you ride with will snicker behind your back  :doh:

Lots of places will sell you a set of 010's, 020's, or the combo for under $200.

Good Rubber = black gold when you need it.

Oh well! :shake:   You guys and a buddy I work with convinced me to get rid of both D204s and go with the D220s on front and rear.  At least now, I will have a chance to see the difference in wear rates and performance.

I just placed my order with Discount Motorcycle Tire.  Total cost with shipping is $207.  Whole lot better than the local place!

Wow!  this place isn't just tires.  There are all kinds of goodies at reasonable prices on the website.  I may end up getting some brake pads from these guys.

Got a pair of D220s from Discount a few weeks ago.
Good price, prompt service.

I bought a pair of GT501's for my old CB500/4 a month or two ago.  Not the best experience, but I'll probably order from them when it's time to get new tires for the VFR.

First the gal I placed the order with told me they had them in stock and would ship right away.  I called a week later, on a Friday, and was told it would be the next monday or Tuesday - however the guy that told me that entered a note in their order system (that was visible on the online order, oops...) saying he told me 5 to 10 business days...  needless to say I was a little pissed.  

I called a third time, turns out the back tire was the hold up.  I actually kind of expected this, gt501s are fairly hard to get right now.  I was suprised when the gal I placed the order with said they were in stock.  She probably just saw the front was in and didn't check the rear.  

This third guy went way above and beyond to fix things and had them drop shipped to me directly from their supplier.  I had them in a couple of days.

Overall, slightly annoying, but that kind of thing happens, and they did what it took to fix it.

We ordered a helmet for my wife after this, and it got here exactly when they said when I ordered (about a week from the order, shipped ground to AZ).

Here's my experience with DMT...

Ordered 3 tires, 1 front, 2 rear on Aug 02,2003.

-1 Week later, got 1 front tire - no rears
-Called about other two...In stock, said they'd ship right away.
-2 weeks later, got one of two rears
-Called about 1 remaining rear...In stock, said they'd ship right away
-3 weeks later, no tire
-8 weeks later, called about 1 remaining rear...In stock, said they'd ship right away...Would drop ship from supplier
-12 weeks later, no tire
-16 weeks later, Nov 14, I finally cancelled last rear tire

Seems wierd...Mistake after mistake. �Ordered tires from them last year w/no problem.

If so, I'd prefer honesty. Haven't had any real problems myself, although my 3 tire order did not come in 1 shipment.
But I was not in a hurry needing to get them right away either. FWIW.

From what I've gathered talking to them they don't actually "stock" anything.  This stuff comes from a supplier to them after you place the order, and then on from there.  This is why their prices are so good, no cost of inventory hanging around, but obviously this system can lead to problems...  they call it Just In Time ordering in the computer business (maybe elsewhere as well, don't know).

Knowing this I went ahead and ordered my wife's helmet from them, willing to trade the possible delays for the great price.  If I was in a huge hurry for some reason, I might look elsewhere.

Well, I just received the tracking number for the shipment.  I ordered two days ago.  Details of the shipment from the shipping company website said "shipped two tires." :D   I'll let everyone know what tires I get and how long it took.

I'm impressed!

The Dunlop D220s ordered from Discount Motorcycle Tires arrived today all the way over here in Georgia.  Ground shipment time was 5 days, including the weekend.

I ordered a set of tires from SWMoto this last summer.  They are extremely helpful.  They shipped the tires to a dealer in Spokane.  I verified they were there before I left Texas.  Made for an inexpensive way to change out my tires during my extended trip.
