Hey all, i want to paint my bike but im still unsure about what color, then this idea hit me today, what do you guys think about a two tone paint scheme? such as the left half of the bike is painted black, and the right half is painted red? with different designs for either side. like a tribal design on the red side, and a flame job on the black side, or something like that, im not sure about it yet, i just wanted to see what you guys thought of the idea?
What Do You Think?

Harley did half black half orange on their VR1000.

I don't like the idea, but to each their own.

Personally, I think you would regret it, painting and customizing a bike can be quite pricey. Once done, you're pretty much stuck with it—unless you have deep pockets and/or are doing the work yourself.
Having said all that, be bold and do whatever the hell ya want....yer life, yer bike.....

That's a paint job I could live with...the bike looks of a whole....the scheme has a bit of a "classic" look while still being modern.... :fing02:
Hey, if a single-sided swingarm works, why NOT a single-sided paint job? The custom paint job is generally intended as a personal statement, so go for it. The H-D paint job above actually looks pretty good.
It could look good. But I'd stick with something similar to the Harley picture above. Skip the tribal/flame design and add a white stripe.

Yaeh, what ever happened to those guys?
I like the rc 30 scheme from '90.(I'm pretty sure it was '90?)
Unique does not sell well. I'd only do things to the bike that will make it more valuable upon resale.

i just thought of that tribal/flame design as an example as to different designs on each side. now come on ECX585, why on earth would you want to sell you VFR??
sorry but if you put anything tribal on your bike or helmet im just going to laugh at you.

Don't think I would do it but to each his own. My 4th Gen is supposedly getting painted right now (painter has had it since April) I went with the stock paint with the exception of a couple of pieces that were red will be jet black, such as the piece that goes around the headlights. Subtle but it gives it a personal touch. I'm not much for extreme paint jobs myself. I wanted something unique but where only a VFR enthusiast would notice that it wasn't stock.
This topic has alot of custom colors... Little long and silly, but maybe it will help with your idea...

(what he calls himself, no political incorrectness intended here)
Still don't like the idea of the laterally non-symetrical paint idea. I've seen them in person and didn't care for it.
You never know when you might need to sell it.........a bad night at poker, baby comes along, wife ruins your life and takes half your stuff in a divorce, etc.
Longtimers might remember the 'WD-40' VFR (3rd Gen) that surfaced on the big list back in 2000 or so - one side blue, one side yellow. Even the owners helmet got the treatment :)

Some witnesses said it was blue.
Some said it was yellow.
A reasonable doubt was in the jurors minds.
just don't spoil it with a personalized license plate.
