A quick note to introduce myself. I was the owner of an 06 that I dearly loved, but had to sell to get permission to buy the 14. Now that I have had that a while I have been toying with the idea of another VFR. I started calling the dealers within 100 miles to see who had what, when to my pleasant surprise I found a dealer in MO ( I am in NW TN) that had two leftover '04's!! I could not believe it. They had an asphalt and a red. I made the deal over the phone ($7400 OTD about $600 more than I wanted to give, but still a good deal considering used with 3-10k miles are going for 6-6.5 on Ebay. If anybody else is interested in the other bike, I can get you the info, just don't wanna break any forum rules on my first post...:)), and rode down after lunch to pick her up. It was just as great as I remembered!

Anyway, I am back and glad to be here!

At first the deal was on the asphalt, but when I got there, I made them switch the paperwork. The red was just screaming my name!

cool, amazing that new 04's are still around! Seems like a good price.

Just curious, was there anything the ZX14 does not do well that prompted you to get a VFR again? I looked at getting a 14 before my VFR and from what I understand they are supposed to be similar bikes (comfort, all around riding, etc.) but of course the 14 has more power. I still look at the 14's from time to time and I'd be interested in the contrasts between the bikes.

Congrats, once you've had a VFR there's no turning back. Any pics?

The 14, and a VFR.......nice garage............. :fing02:

Congrats on the bike and welcome to the forum, Revzilla! :)

Hard to believe anyone still has brand new '04s on hand, but there are a few out there. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal on yours, too. :fing02:

Question... should I go with an 04 asphalt or an 07 RWB? I am looking to buy within the next 2 weeks! Hopefully by this saturday I will have a real good idea what I am going to buy.

Although there seem to be a lot of them here I would say the RWB.. After the incident with your last bike you need all the Visibility you can get.. Plus the choices in Gear Color will be better.... But at the price he paid the 04 sounds real good.. I almost got a 04 asphalt last year but got the 06 black instead..

White or Red/burgundy are sweet colors too.. :fing02:

The 14 is not quite as well suited for the quick grocery store/beer run. I also think the VFR is better for ME in the twisties (not that I am any expert). The 14 has MAD POWER, and is like riding a couch. So comfortable, and I am a big guy 6'3" 290lbs.

It was just time for a new toy, and he VFR has always had a lasting impression with me. It is basically a tie for anything other than just pure comfort, and because of my size the 14 wins. Well, there is another break...the insurance is about 85% less on the VFR. :pissed:

I just do not see any reason to pay the extra 2-3k for a new one, when they are almost the exact same bike. I decided to put the money towards farkles, and a nice 5 day riding vacation.

Great news! Just bought a 07 RWB last week but looked at a couple of used '04 Asphalts and thought that would be a nice match to my Asphalt 919. My VFR sitting next to the 919...my wife calls them Night and Day. I think you got a great deal and stay safe out there. JD :fing02:
