So I rolled the bike out of my Cycle Shelter this morning, started her up and noticed a fastener on the Cycle Shelter pad. I went for a ride last night and I didn't notice the piece then so it must have come off either when I put it on the center stand last night, or when I took it off this morning. It was resting on the right side of the bike, under the front of the rear brake lever. It was slightly greasy but not very worn. I didn't ride the bike because I figured the piece may be important. Below is a pic of the piece, it's grainy because I used my cell phone. Anyone have any ideas where it may go?

+1. Mine popped off (and promptly disappeared) while I was bending the rear brake pedal back out after a garage drop a couple years ago. I bought a couple replacements at a local hardware store. Very hard to install if you don't have a snap ring tool.
When you put it back in look a carefully at the edge of the ring. One side is rounded the other more square. make sure the square side is the side that is the side that is loaded. Think about how the piece that is being held on pushes against the ring.
Thanks! I was worried that it was part of my brake assembly and I guess my worries were justified. I dropped the bike in my driveway a month ago and it bent the brake pedal a bit, I bet that's what caused it.
There are number of these on the bike. It could also be from the piston surround of the small little linked brake piston on the left side of your front tire. I've had that guy come loose aswell.
Now I am concerned! Just brought a new 07 home yesterday and I see parts falling off these things! LOL! None of my 25 year old Interceptors have shed any parts!(that I have noticed anyway) Oh no! Course, they could be secured with a fine patina of rust too. (not really) Could it be part of the keep a Honda dealer busy plan since they won't service any of my old Interceptors. :biggrin:
