I decided to change my CCTs this morning.
The rear one took all of 20 minutes - No problem.
The front one, not so much.
I decided not to remove the throttle body, since there was plenty of room to work with once the wiring harness and a couple of vacuum tubes were out of the way.
I unscrewed the three bolts that hold the CCT and began pulling it out. There was a little fuel line? hugging it and I kinda worked around it. This caused me to tilt the CCT to one side and (in retrospect) this caused the metal cap on the inside to rub against the engine case.
I think you know what happened next... I hear a CLUNK - a sound of a cap falling into the guts of the engine
I almost had a heart attack!
I was hoping that the damn thing would just stay where it fell, but no luck. It went somewhere inside out of sight.
I jumped in a car and went to the local PepBoys to buy a flexible magnetic retractor - Thankfully, the cam is steel.
Now, I am going to go back and pray to the wrenching gods that I can fish it out.
If I fail. If I do not succeed. I will... I don't know what I will do than.
This will be the end of my 08 riding season for sure.
I don't even want to think about it right now.
POSITIVE THOUGHTS.
Wish me luck.
I certainly need as much of it as I can get right now.
