the welding on the down pipe that leads to the two silencers has come undone and now there's a very small crack appeared and you can feel a slight tickle of air coming though. The dealer who I usually use (one of those old timers, to get to the place you have to go down a track road and all the machines are in farm huts.. I love it but he is shutting down.. credit crunch!!)
You need to take the exhaust off and have a good welder repair it. It's not bad like in a car where the fumes could be trapped on the inside of the car. I would fix it for sure.

You've got BOS pipes in your avatar? Will BOS warranty it?
Maybe they'll ship you a brand-new Y-pipe instead of repairing?
I would love to try that one but it was fitted before I had her. One thing I'm dubious about, my bike has only done 12,000 miles. Does this seem right to you? It's obviously not the standard Honda piping and it does look a little rough around the edges - I'll have to get a pic to see what you think.
I had to weld my Staintune up-pipe in the same place. Staintune will replace the pipe for free(minus the cost of shipping), but I didn't want to wait. They do this even if you're not the original purchaser.

that's certainly worth looking into thanks, I don't know why but I am slightly paranoid my bike has done more than the odometer is telling me, mines an 05, and in 3 owners she has only covered 6000 miles before I got her.

That might seem low for you in the UK, but that is about normal for people here in the states.
Well she has over 12,000 miles on her now and I think it's the aftermarket piping that's the problem, not from the standard Honda stuff but I do get a little worried in case someone has taken off the speed sensor at some point, I'm sure it's easy enough. Are there any obvious signs to look out for on a bike thats done more than 12k?? We all know that she isn't even broken in until 20 thousand or so!
To keep everyone informed on this topic I've rang the dealer whom I got the bike from originally and he said bring it in and we will do our best to repair it for free... hmmm 'do our best', still I think thats positive as it's still under 'warranty' from where I bought it.
I'll find out next week, have to travel 100 miles out my way and leave it there a couple of days, least it's old stomping ground where I can stay at my girlfriend's friends.
If I can get this doen for free, I'll do it!!
