Good choice of words, Ron. THING !
Although an interesting design, it looks to me like it belongs where it is rather than out sport touring........
Scale of 1-10, ten being best; 3

of course the engine is a concept. All depends on how you define concept.

Those pics and that model make it look like the engine is in a shiny frame that isn't meant to be much more than a case to show where the engine goes. Yay for more uselessness.
#6
The pics mean nothing- except for ONE thing:

IT'S OFFICIAL- HONDA HAS A NEW V-4 IN THE PIPELINE!!!!!

Let's hope they're faster than Yamaha getting it to production.
#7
Yeah and is doesn't have anything to steer the bike, mind control maybe. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) No wheel/tires and usable headlight too. Me thinks it is just a full scale game controller. Quite cool to have in the living room. Wonder if it is compatible with both PS3 and Xbox.
#8
no, it has a seat, so you can pretend to interact with it. Definitely a wii controller.

This thing is so far from reality it's not even worth speculating about what might come of it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Isnt that the same magazine that started all the speculation about the 09 VFR?

This from the company that brought you the DN-01 - "The Delorean of motorcycles."

"Oh no, no, nooooo... This IS the 2010".

LOL. Save it. LOL.
Sooner or later, folks will conclude,..... The consumer market is there to take your $$$, and piss you off.

Someone at Honda needs to start taking different meds if this is there idea of promoting a new V4, this thing has no practicle use what so ever other than maybe ending up on Speed Racer II in an animated form.

Honda please pull your head out of your A$$

This thing is an interact for Xbox. just look at the headlight. It's an X! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/comp13.gif) That should tell you something.
#14
what kind of traction does that Z rated bodywork deliver?
#15
i like the 'hubless' wheels. can't imagine how that would work. i remember seeing pics of the interceptors in the mid-eighties and saying the same thing about the SSSA, too.

i like where this is going. even just the basic body shape is completely unique. i think this is a step in the right direction - honda back in the seat of the innovator.
#16
says "as little as 2 years" and "30th anniversary"

so does that mean were gonna see it released in october 2011 available in spring 2012?

Do you mean Microsoft will write the ECU program? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Anyway there was a 6th gen concept drawing too.

(IMG:http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/prototype-spy-concept/Honda-2002-Interceptor-design-sketchB.jpg)

And we got this:

So, the new drawing could mean something. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/warranty.gif)

I especially like the tires, they must be Michelins taken from Nicky Haydens bike from the last race.
#20
Nice but no dice Honda... try again...
#21
what size do you think the engine should be?
1000cc would be plenty.
but if their looking for our input, why not go bigger like 1200 or even 1400.
if they went 1400 it could compete with the hyper bikes like the ZX14.

how does 200bhp and 100wtq at 470lbs wet sound. sounds good to me.

i think if they went 1000cc were only gonna see 85ish wtq.
1200 might be just right, but if they market the next bike against the ZX14 its gonna lag behind like they always tend to do. So why not go All out

as i think about it, Im not really sure anybody will be able to afford this bike if their now charging $14599 for a Scooter (same price as an 09 ST1300)
They might just decide to RUNE this bike also.

Honda blew it...Aprilia blows 'em away

http://www.motorcycle.com/events/intermot-...iled-86968.html

"So, when we were really all pumped up for the big [Honda] V-4 news, the veil was lifted and what we got was a very shiny, non-functional design prototype of what looked like a very improbable year 2015 VFR. Oh well."

"Next to the cyclic revamps to the Japanese 1000cc superbikes, Aprilias leap into the void with its brand new V4 Race Machine looks like a real revolution. The bike was unveiled right after the last WSBK round in Rome, Italy, but this was the first chance to see it from up close. And, its the bollocks, as true Brits would say. "

Huh huh - he said bollocks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

If the idea of a concept bike is to push the envelope, this thing is tearing it apart. Not my cuppa - yet, but there are some features that would be killer if they were to be brought forward. It's time for something really revolutionary in the world of motorcycles - who will step up and knock one out of the park?

I would watch Reindeer Games (which was horrible) one hundred times or I See You (Sly Stallone's newer version of Stop or my Mom will Shoot) with Russian or Latin voices versus waiting another year for Honda to come out with another DN-01 instead of a new VFR or a bike to compete with the B-King or the VMAX!!! It would be very simple to visualize this as a production bike concept. All of the basic parts are there such as single sided swing arm and exhaust. Just graft on some real wheels, brakes, fenders and suspension and it's there....start writing your letters to Honda now demanding that they do more with this.
#28
dutchinterceptor, Oct 8 2008, 08:29 PMI know it doesn't help much but here's the concept with actual wheels.

Looks like it would be tough to tuck with that tank.

And the whole bike looks like it has a high CG, maybe just an optical illusion.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Still think it's just some unrelated artwork. Art and paint, Honda's focus for V4 bike development these days...
#29
Wait a sec... I only measure 45 between the cylinders... coupled with the
obvious long stroke it adds up to more of a V2 than V4...
#30
It's really just CBR1000RR bodywork and a VFR swingarm grafted to a VTX, that went off a cliff into the ocean(un-raking the front end), and got a starfish stuck to its face... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/comp13.gif)
#32
SEBSPEED, Oct 9 2008, 06:13 AMAnd I've seen an exhaust setup similar to that before... NAS concept anyone??

(IMG:http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/prototype-spy-concept/Honda-2004-NASa.jpg)

how about they just build this thing for us! It looks ready to go.

that swingarm would make ducati designers throw up in there mouth.

hey honda. lets not forget to push the envelope this time around. so how about some crazy single sided fork.

also Hubless wheels are possible. (not that honda would actually do it.) but that would be really kick ass. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif)
#33
It's been almost 10 years since they debuted the NAS... something tells me they won't be building it anytime soon...
#34
That concept seat looks really comfy!

Wonder what the concept lean angle limit is with all that plastic around the tires? Surely replacement plastic would be cheap and easy to replace :O

BusyLittleShop, Oct 9 2008, 07:04 AMWait a sec... I only measure 45 between the cylinders... coupled with the

Doesn't make a difference as it is a plastic sculpture of something that resembles a bike.

Intermot is one of the major motorcycle exhibitions where all manufacturers are represented and where they show their latest creations. If you want to make a concept model the center of attention you better make one that at least looks like it can be manufactured (like the Honda NAS). Also the survey on the website is ridiculous. Why ask if people like the color? Color is of no importance to a concept model and I don't expect to get a choice of just a single color when it finally hits the showroom floor. Also the "how do you like the ... view" questions are irrelevant as when you put on some suspension and real tires (hubless wheels or not) the bike will look completely different: like a fireblade with sssa.
Q2: "2. How does the model affect you? Please choose 3 adjectives which meet the sense the best"
A: Huh?, Are you kidding me? & get real Honda!!"

Here is an idea as to how they can sell more Hondas:

vfrcapn, Oct 9 2008, 06:33 AMLooks like it would be tough to tuck with that tank.

Definitions of Concept

A comprehensive idea or generalization. 2. An idea that brings diverse elements into a basic relationship

An abstract or symbolic tag that attempts to capture the essence of reality. The "concept" is later converted into variables to be measured.

IMO give Honda a little break. IMO they have never let us down in the past, each new model that comes out impresses us till we drive it to death as we wait for the new model. I am sure that Honda has a reason for this concept and I am sure in 4 years when it hits the show room we will all be talking about our first ride on it and how it is so much better than the 6th gen and as usual the 5th gen owners will still hold their ground refusing to upgrade and claim that their gen is the best that Honda will ever put out.
