When I bought my new to me 02 ABS a few weeks ago, the first time I took it out and put a few miles on it (more than the 10 miles for the test ride) the FI light came on. I was getting as I recall codes 21 & 22 which both have to do with the o2 sensors. I went to Radio Shack and bought the resistors and since the FI light does not come on and there are no codes stored. However, I did notice the cruising operating temp move from the 180-190 range to the 195-205 range. Thoughts?

I think you would have to do a back-to-back comparison under the same exact weather and ride test conditions to see if the resistors make a difference. Having said that, I believe if the ECU detects a problem with the O2 sensors it goes into "closed loop" mode (or is it "open loop"), and as a result of the fault richens the fuel mixture until the fault is cleared. So a richer mixture would cause the engine to run a little cooler, whereas a leaner mixture would cause the engine to run slightly hotter. I think that is what you experienced by your coolant temp observation.
Normal operating temperature is from 180-220. The thermostat begins to open at 180 and fully opens at 200. The fan comes on at 220.
If anything, the removal of the O2 sensors will cause the bike to run cooler. The purpose of the O2 sensors is to allow the FI to lean out the F/A mixture to reduce emissions and increase milage. Lean condition causes an engine to run hotter.

I believe closed Loop = no input from sensors...just preset computer settings
open Loop = sensor input used to adjust air/fuel mixture, advance/retard spark, etc.

I had no diffirence on my 04. Possibly you were in more traffic or slower speeds, ambient temp.
195-205 seems "normal" to me...I've got the 02 fix in place and that's about the temp it runs at.
Open Loop is when the ecm is not reading the O2 sensor/s. This is either from bad O2's, hard throttle, cold O2's, or faulty wiring.

Now when a perfect running vehicle is in open loop (say when hard accelerating), I do not know if the ecm just stops reading the O2/s after the cat/s or if it stops reading both, before and after cat/s O2/s. I would think that it's still reading the first O2/s so its not just dumping tons of fuel into the engine.
Will say this. I had my PCIII with resisitors connected on my '01 for a year and my valves are gunked. I disconnected my PCIII and reinstalled the O2's cause I was loosing 40-50 miles a tank.
