Bike Criminaly Damaged

Damn people who don't gave a f*** about other peoples stuff. So i came out to my bike to go to work this morning and what do i see none other than my bike laying on its right side with a big puddle of oil under it fairings all smashed. $1300 in just parts no labor. Sorry i needed to vent

Sorry to hear that man, I just got my insurance check from low life doing the exact same thing. Sickening feeling to walk out and see something like that.

Jiminy Christmas, there has been a rash of these. Bad luck. Get back on the rod soon. In the mean time, I am working on a motorcycle version of this: hope that made you feel better

That sucks! Good luck with the insurance company (hope you have insurance that covers it!)!!

I have no remorse for the low life, spinless, scumbags who do this sort of thing. I hate to think what I would do to someone if I caught them in the act.......even if it was not my bike!!!!

I feel like I am going to throw up. I was wondering where your left hand mirror was, then I saw it on the sidewalk. Looks like they kicked it off after the bike was down..

I would be in jail if I found the person.

right now it sucks but i could use the money and just fix the right cover and drive it with the busted fairings :( but ins. will cover it all its just a matter of waiting for the check.

It didn't have any marks on the left side from where a car could of hit it. if you look it landed on the edge of the curb focusing the force of the fall into a small area

That really bites. The lowlife that did this will get what's coming to him or her, it's called karma. It's too bad the VFR didn't pin them to the curb.

The bike is fixable. Some plastics, a case cover, and it'll be as good as new. It just sucks to see this happen, I'm sure.

ASU-VFR - while you wait for the insurance check maybe make up a REWARD flyer with a pic of your bike and one pic with it on its side. Stick it under the wiper of EVERY ASU vehicle you see, especially the ones in that parking lot. You never know, you may get a tip.... someone happened to be peeking out the window at the time....or getting in their car to go somewhere....

Sorry about your bike. I know the feeling. Not as much money as yours, but still a couple of hundred bucks.

Heated grip catching on fire was my first reaction. Then I noticed other signs of human activity (they also put a plastic cup on top when they finally got the fire going). Could have been worse. They could have pushed the bike over! :dry:

Sorry to hear about your baby being damaged. That makes me so f%$&k&@g mad!!! I mean WTF!!! But I do believe in karma. I hope they accidently walk into a drive by shooting. Why do people do these type of things? Good luck on repairs and I hope she is motoring down the road soon. JD

Well there is actually a guy locally that has rigged a taser under the seat of both his audi and his honda st1300. Basically with alarm he has on the bike, If you bypass the alarm and try to start the bike, the taser fires upward through the seat.
He showed me the test firing he setup with a spare seat for the Honda. The spikes come out about four inches apart and the spark will still jump that distance.
I'm guessing that the current path will be up one thigh, across the nads and then out the other thigh. Fifty thousand volts through the "boys" will undoubtedly put a guy down.
Oh yeah, I should mention that he used to work for a company that makes handheld tasers for security company use.

That seemed a little over the top, but how about this, some sort of taser rigged to arm when weight comes off the kickstand and/or centerstand, there would have to be quite a few contact points on the bike so that where ever they have their hands on the bike, they will complete the circuit, but that would get them.

That still won't stop some people. The dealership I worked at had plenty of video surveillance (pretty much everywhere but the bathrooms) and yet some people would still pull crap.
Had a guy key another guy's car right under the camera because he felt the vehicles owner had somehow help the dealership cheat him (for the record no-one cheated him, he was just nuts).

Did he come to you with this info, If so buy him a coffee and thank him for doing something and tell him that only thing that would have made you even more appreciative would have been if he had come running right over when it happened.

back in college way back in the late 80's, I had a guy tip over my bike in the parking garage. He wasn't drunk, nor did he deliberately do it. He just could not bother to park in the center of the spot or pay attention where his car door swung when he got out of the car. When he was confronted with it, he just said, "You can't do anything about it, you have no proof". Since that part of the parking garage did not have camera's on the upper levels, he was right I had no proof, but he did not deny it either.
About three weeks went by and then on friday night he comes up the garage elevator to find his Jetta over on it's side. I know who did it (It really wasn't me), I know how they did it (not something anyone ever figured out either), and I know why they did it. Lets just say I'm very glad they are my friends and that they choose to fight for America.

WTF is wrong with people? I'm really sorry to hear about your bike, but I'm glad your neighbor got a license plate of the scumbag and his friend(s) who did this.

Probably too late now, but did you call the police and have them write it up? I would go as far as to ask for fingerprints to be lifted from where they pushed it over, unless they kicked it over.

If the cops won't do anything about it, maybe your insurer can go after the nimrods after they pay to have your bike fixed. Please keep us updated on what happens.

Hope you get your VFR fixed back up to 100% quickly.

It's a hit&run with an eye witness, you should definitely file a report because you do have a case!

I feel your pain and I think alot of us here sadly do.
I really hope you get some justice out of all this :(

I hate to be technical but this was a destruction of property. Accidents cannot occur on private space. in DC if the property destroyed is worth over 200 dollars, it is a felony. Do call the police though, it cant hurt.

A police report was filed the same day and the my neighbor gave a witness statement. Now I'm dealing with my ins company, trying to let me do the repairs instead of the shop. $3200 and change including labor :ohmy:

In many states, if not all, you can take the plate number to the dmv and get the info on who owns it. Check the small claims limits in your state, but either way, aside from the criminal consequences, you have civil remedies to consider which will get you the actual value of the fix or at the very least any deductible (if you have one and want insurance to handle the claim). Cops often have simply too much to do to fully investigate a property damage case, but that doesn't mean you can't do it on your own. If the police don't get the info you need, you can still do some leg work and then talk to the local DA or State's Attorney too if you're set on a criminal action as well.

i got a set of plastics off ebay for 190 only minor scratches and a small piece of the front broken off just above the mirror mount. the rest of the parts should be here tues so i'll have it running tues night

Well dude, what are the police doing about this?
Did they arrest the bastards that damaged your bike? or are they taking the usual 'sorry can not help you' attitude!
That is more than enough damage to be considered a felony.
They should have already picked up the people that your witness saw for questioning.
Charges should be pending.

the plastics will work for now, there was more damage to them then what i was to believefrom the listing. But i plan on painting it next winter maybe going asphalt

Sorry to hear about your bike. If you filed a police report with the police, you should have received the case number and the officer's name. Just keep calling the officer and check on the status of the case or if it has been forwarded to a detective. Now, at my department all felony cases, unless solved at the scene, are forwarded to a detective. The important thing to keep in mind here is even though this is the highest priority for you to have this solved, your report is sitting on a pile of 50-60 other cases just like it. That is ususally the case load for one of our detective's. They have the plate number and a witness, that's a pretty good start to finding the asshats that ruined your bike!!
