The December issue of TWO ran a comparison between our beloved VFR800 VTEC, the Triumph Tiger, Yamaha FZ1, and GSX-R1000, looking for the best modern all-around sports tourer. Guess who won, hands down... (spoiler below)
For those who don't get TWO, it was the VFR. The Brits had high praise for a bike entering its EIGHTH model year...

Weird competition, two hard-core sport bikes and a Paris-Dakar/dual-sport/super motard vs. the long reigning sport touring king. It's almost like the deck was stacked. I would've thought something like the Triumph Sprint ST, BMW F800ST, Ducati Multistrada 1100 or other bikes of that ilk would've been more worthy competition. Whatever, bring 'em all on. The Viffer roolz again!

was thinking the same thing. Last time they did it they had the 1150RS, Sprint ST, Futura, ST4, and 02 VFR. Except they thought the Futura was the best bike out of that bunch. Major ding on the VFR was lack of power and that it was the heaviest bike. Then again, they did say the VFR was the best by far in the twisties.

Power...ahem, where is that 1000 again? C'mon, Honda, while we all love our mid-displacements, the bike could use a healthy dollop of smack in the pony department. Then, we wouldn't have to fool around with sprocket mods and such. Especially, while we're loaded down with all that sport touring gear :excl: :biggrin:
