Sorry but I couldnt really find a good place to ask this question so since I am looking at buying a 6th genertaion Ill ask it here. I sold my 1996 vfr-dumbest thing I have done in a long time-and am looking at buying another vfr. Unfortunatley it appears all the good ones are 10 plus hours away. Im from Ohio. I considered buying an airline ticket and making a fun trip or short vacation home but our roads are and will snow covered for about another 2 months. It seems nows the time to buy since its NOT motorcycle season. What are everyones thought of shipping a motorcycle? Who would you recommend and use? What are the pros and cons. All I can think is ordering the bike and receiving an empty box. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

As for buying, drive and pick it up. Unless you really need a VFR right now, which you shouldn't since ohio is still covered in snow, wait it out and search. One will eventually pop up on craigslist. I was in the same deal before. A day before I ended up buying a 955i, I found a VFR in detroit.
Tip. Google the following: inurl:craigslist.org VFR
or switch VFR with interceptor or anything else VFR related. Then look at the url's for the results until you find one thats close enough to drive to. Happy hunting.

I just did this exact thing last fall. I purchased a nice VFR from a guy in Colorado and had it shipped to me. It was easy. Here's who I used.

I know I should wait its just the deals seem to be so good. I mean cant I expect to pay more come beginning of summer time? I have found a few really good deals AND they are with the OEM hardbags.
I had my 2 motorcycles shipped from NY to TN without a hitch for under $550. I started a listing on U-ship.com, and tons of shippers email you with quotes. Some companies, some are private guys with a truck and trailer. Prices vary alot depending on open/enclosed trailer etc... But its a great place to start. Good luck!

All they do is haul motorcycles. No draining of fluids; crating etc; delivered to your door in an enclosed trailer ready to ride. Cheaper than most shippers too; just all around nice guys too.
Also beware of U-ship I have heard a lot of horror stories. That site is loaded with illegal haulers.
