Does anyone know if it is possible to mount the factory side bags on a sixth gen that has a fender eliminator on it? In short does the mounting bracket for the side bags tie into the factory rear fender on the motorcycle? I was considering purchasing a set of factory side luggage for my 07 and have never looked that close at the mounting hardware that allows the luggage to attach to the motorcycle. Thanks in advance!

sorry about the double post. The board flood control hit my post and I did not realize the post was placed on the forum before posting again.
Not sure about an aftermarket fender eliminator... my home-brew eliminator consists of just cutting the damn plastic off. To mount the factory bags you'll need the bracket that supported the original fender as both sides tie into it.

Not a clear picture I know, but you actually remove the metal rear fender brace and it is replaced with a new one that comes with the bags and hardware (it looks real similar to the original however). I simply removed the entire plastic rear fender and mounted the tag and light to the new bag brace.

This is just my $.02, but if you have the bags on, do you really need the fender kit :ph34r:

I would only be using them for the occasional extended trip. I would just like to have the option to mount the bags without a great deal of hassle.

You can use the bracket or fabricate your own. It's easy to do. I made mine out of plexiglass so you can see through it. Not a big problem, just a small bracket needed to tie the two sides together.

Did you tie the two sides to the tag area of the motorcycle or did you just tie the two ends together?
