Hello, I've checked what I know and I'm stuck. My 03 ran fine last fall when I put her away, but a couple weeks ago or so I went out to give her a run and nada. Key on, lights, blinkers all that's ok but no pump wine and no starter at all. Net even a click. Seems that circuit is dead. (I have a PCIII too and no lights are on it, although I'm not sure if there are supposed to be.)
I posted and got some feedback, checked the battery and sure enough it was shot. Figured that was it so new one is on the way. Today for chits and giggles, went to start her up by using my girlfriends Accord. Hooked jumpers for her battery to my leads (my batters is out now, awaiting the new one) and same exact thing. So, while I did need a battery, problems is still there.
I've checked the fuses by the battery and under the faring cover, all good. I've checked the obvious stuff like making sure the run / stop is on. Kickstand is down but it's in neutral so should be ok.
Anyone got any ideas? Any ideas are appreciated, my next step is the dealer unfortunately :(

Check if there is corrosion on the starter relay - under the seat - near the battery? Has a green housing. Did you try it with the PC3 disconnected?
Thanks for the quick response! Relay looks ok, didn't try the PCIII disconnected. It was on there when I bought it, and it's wired into a harness. Only think coning off it is the ground to the battery - should I just leave the ground off or would I need to cut into that harness and do more?
ok, skip my last post - thanks much Ken! It was not the PCIII, however I figured out how to disconnect it, and gave it a shot. Nada. However, while doing so, I played with the stop switch on the bars. I've done it before, but this time I saw the FI light flicker so I just put pressure on the switch and it came to life. Now seems fine, hooked the PCIII back up and good to go - well, almost, the switch is obviously crap, but at least I know what it is. I never even use that switch, not sure why it would go bad. Oh well.
So, thanks very much for making me poke around there. It's a Honda, I should have known you can't kill these things lol

remove the switch and clean the contacts. Probably just some corrosion on it.
Mine would also come back on when flipping the run/stop switch, but eventually stopped all together, it turned out to be the fried 16 pin connector on the left side over the radiator. There is a fuel pump power supply wire that also runs through there. Once I bypassed it...problem solved. Now just waiting for warm weather to get it to the dealer for replacement.
I'll give cleaning it a shot, thanks for the tip! Maybe it just got some crud over the winter. Haven't done the recall, It's on my list this spring once it's nicer out. This has been a long winter, I'm really anxious to get out!
Well if you haven't done the recall, then you should really check the blue 16 pin connector on the left side! You have to remove the left fairing and there it is! disconnect it and inspect it for damage, charring or if it's stuck together then you have a problem there. It's definately worth looking at in your garage and not along the side of the road! I have twice, been stranded once!
Just a couple of bypass wires will keep you going until you get the recall done!

Luv I have a question on that, how do you know if the recall work has been done to your bike? Can you tell my looking at this blue connector?
Are you worried that the dealership didn't actually do the work, or you got your bike used and are not sure if the work was done by the previous owner?
Are you familiar with taking off your plastic to check??

I think the dealer is supposed to punch a dimple in the corner of the VIN plate to indicate that the recall was performed.
As to whether he actually did the work.....
I bought the bike used, so I am not sure if the work has been done or not. I know how to take the plastic off. I have had them off a couple times.
checksix: the vin plate on the right side of the frame? toward the front? I did look there and did not notice anything. Does anybody have a pic of this punch that is referred.

I could be wrong but I think he's kidding about the punch in the vin number! I'd call a honda dealer to check to see if it's been done. I only know what the old fried up one looks like so I couldn't tell you what the new ones even look like. I still need to have mine done. They have had it in for me since last September, I just haven't had the time to get it there.

It's the vin plate that is on the steering head sleeve, of the frame. A reputable dealer, will punch them. Some are lazy.
Well I guess I learned something today! :)
So how do they keep track of what each stamp means, if there happen to be two or more recalls....not that it would happen to Honda....Harley maybe :goofy:

That is standard procedure for honda. However no one ever punches the mark. Just ask the dealer to look it up. They can tell you if any and all recall work was done.
Have had the same chit happen on both my VFRs and have heard of it fairly regularly... kill switch housing requires a little pressure applied to get the circuit to close... annoying but once running they have never cut out on me (which was my initial concern, being the kill-switch housing). Open the switch housing and give it a blast out with contact or brake cleaner... works wonders.
