This may sound like a newb question but I figure this is the proper place to ask it. I just started riding with the wife on back and have had several cagers flash their headlights at me (I would guess due to the extra weight on the motorcycle). My rear shock is set to the second lowest notch on the adjustment. What notch do you usually set your rear shock to if you have an extra hundred pounds on the back. Also keep in mind that I am a decent sized person at 200 lbs. Thanks in advance.

With me weighting in at about 185, I had my stock shock set at the second to the hardest setting to achive proper sag. That was with no bags on as well. I always bump it to the hardest setting for riding 2-up, course my wife weighs slightly more than yours.

I weigh 165, the wife 105 lbs. I ride twisties and 2 up with the pre-load on the 2nd stiffest position. I believe stock is 2, try 6. You may want to put a round or 2 in the front pre-load as well.

The suspension is still in the stock configuration. Definately sounds like the stock preload is too soft. What is the optimal sag for the suspension when riding solo?
