The previous owner swears he has it in a box somewhere but I'm thinking he'll never come through and send it to me. The trouble is, that's the key with the little silver plate that has the magic number on it.
Is there another way to get an extra key for my bike?
I just took my key to a local locksmith and had them cut a new one for a spare.
The honda dealer sent me to a locksmith who had the key blanks.
Worst case, buy a blank from a dealer, and get it cut somewhere. Pizza cake. :cool:
Real worst case, you lose the only key. Get cracking. Don't lose the 1 key. :rolleyes:
Take your key to the local locksmith and they'll cut you a new key. That's what I did. If they don't have the key blank. They should order a Ilco x265 hd109 key.
If you don't do this soon and loose your key all sorts of things can happen.

If you really need the it, the key code should be stamped on the bottom of the gas cap and ignition.
I got two spares cut by my dealer. I put the original away in a safe place, keep one spare in the house (in case my step dad needs to move my bike), and use the other as my everyday key... Cost me about $6 for the pair.
Decent hardware stores will have blanks also. I won't swear to it, but I think Ace Hardware does.

Normally, these are only common lock keys. House, pad-locks, some common cars... VERY RARELY would they have key blanks for bikes...
I ordered two blanks from my dealer when I couldn't find them anywhere else. Then had the keys cut at a lock shop.

Always a good idea. I pulled the key out of the ignition one time and dropped it underneath the tank somewhere, it didn't hit the ground anyway so I assumed it was somewhere under there. It would have been a real hassle with no spare key.
