Hello! I have a problem with strange clicking sound that comes when I turn throttle to high rpm and then release it. It comes on heated engine. When the engine is cold - it doesn't appear. We do not have a good Honda service in our area. Seems like it is problem with vtec valve spring. Bike runs ok - nothing wrong but this sound. Is somebody here had a same problem? Maybe someone can give me an advice how to fix it? Youtube link to watch it http://www.youtube.c...h?v=FLhkQOX3jJw Thank you!
Vfr800 2002 Strange Engine Sound. Vtec?

It sounds like a cam chain tensioners (CCT's) issue to me.

Excuse me, my english is not so good. What did you mean by that? It is not cam chain tensioners?
I think it is vtec valve spring because it sounds that only after 5-6 k rpm, when vtec comes in. If engine do not turn to this value, there is no sound.

I just meant that I replied with the same answer as the previous one to mine - just a few seconds after he did.
It is most likely the cam chain tensioner. It is a common issue with the VFR. There is one on each side of the engine and either one may wear out. Fortunately it is not something that will cause damage and you can ride the bike in this condition for a while, but you will eventually want to make the repair.
The Cam Chain Tensioners are a common failure/wear item for the Vtec motor. I can assue you your valve springs are fine.
This is one reason some people prefer the non Vtec gear driven cam motors.

Yep.
It is CCT.
Try replacing the rear one first and see if it helps. If not, replace the front one as well.
BTW, where are you from? I believe I detected Russian accent?

I'm Ukraine
There is a slight quick tick sound when vtec activates (approx 7,000 rpm). I believe it is a solenoid that gets activated. When I park my bike and let it warm up, then quickly rev it a few times, I hear it when the tach crosses that vtec activation point. It will not make the noise when the bikes temp is below (i believe it's) 150 degrees (because vtec will not operate below that temp). Just a slight quick single tick.
I never hear it when riding (to much other noise). The situation I'm describing is normal. I would have to hear yours.

Yep I get the same thing, usually when I 1st go into it if my visor is open I can hear the tick sound, kinda cool
Welcome!
I started getting ticking when I switched to Mobile 1 Synthetic. Didn't know it meant something was wrong. Means I have to head over to Toddulu's to see if his bike ticks...

My 03 does that once in awhile after coming down in rpm while stationary is a single loud click not knock but not everytime.
