California Bikes, Dif?

Do 6th generation models that are from california different than the 49 state models? Something about emmisions and down on power. I swear someone told this? Are they correct?

only thing that I know about California bikes is that they get more miles put on them...

I believe they are I know for a fact that they used to be, here's a little story.

I had two friends, each of them bought a 1996 CBR600. Bike A was stock, bike B had a full exhaust and a K&N filter. Bike A pulled away from bike B and always felt like it had more power, this was always a mystery to both owners. The owner of bike A wrecked his bike and the owner of bike B decided to sell his, owner A coned owner B into trading body work and farkles with him before he sold the bike. While switching out body work and exhaust systems it was found that bike B had California emissions equipment on it. Evidently the engine was somewhat detuned to meet the CA emissions standards.

All 6th gens are 50-state bikes. There is no CA model.

That's why we have great weather and blue skies most of the year. Our emissions standards are supposed to be the strictest in the nation.

Right...and LA has no smog either. :rolleyes:

As hondalover said...they are all 50-state emission bikes. No such thing as a CA model for the 6th gen. That's why the first thing I modded on my bike was removing the evap cannister so I could do my oil changes easier. ;)

'98-'99 had different cams/ecu's for CA models, '00-'01 apparently was when they started all 50 state bikes, afaik.
