Need Help / Suggestions For 6th Gen Mods

I currently ride an '06 FJR with extensive mods and I'm thinking of buying a leftover '07 RWB. I'm basically wanting to move to a lighter / smaller machine, more emphasis on the sport side of sport-touring. I could get a CBR / GSXR / R1 type bike and convert to sport-touring setup or upgrade a VFR, which is what I'm leaning toward.

I've searched here and there but haven't been able to find what I need. So here goes;

Suspension: I'd want to upgrade the forks & shock. I'll delink and upgrade the brakes if I have to.

Performance: Full catless exhaust system, PCIII and open airbox.

So I'm assuming some of you have done these upgrades and would like your guidance. $$$ are always a consideration, but the most important thing to me is to have a well integrated bike.

For suspension it all depends how deep your pockets are. You can get a CBR shock and just up the spring rate in the front, and that alone would be an upgrade. Or you could buy a new Ohlins or Elka rear and convert it to a Frankenviffer with USD forks and radial brakes for considerably more moola. It all depends on what you want to spend. I put a new Elka 3-way shock, Racetech springs in mine, changed the steering stems bearings to tapered rollers and spent just over 1K and did all the work myself.

You dont have to de link the brakes. I am a racer and thought I would hate them. The linked system is awesome. The system works very well and you can actually do more with the brakes once you figure out the dynamics.

I have done all of those things to my VFR. I had my front forks done by Traxxion Dynamics ($1250), Ohlins rear shock($700). I put a catless header($50 FROM EBAY) from a 5th gen VFR and had a custom map($300) made for the bike. It smoothed alot out in the mid range. That was with a K&N air filter installed. I did all of these mods over a few years, but the suspension was worth it. Good luck.
