Best Handlebar Grips

first off, let me apologize, i know this can't be the right forum to post this topic in. but for the life of me i couldn't find another forum heading that seemed appropriate.

does anyone have suggestions on what the best handlebar grips are?
most of my riding will be touring with some around the town commuting as well.
i'm going to put heated grips on the bike (the dual-star type that attach to the handlebar under the grip).
i've had Superbike grips on past bikes and liked them...but wanted to see if there was some other great brand out there that is more preferred.

secondly, what is the right length of grip for the VFR?
i've seen 125mm and 135mm options.

I've always been partial to ProGrip 724's. No specific reason, just comfortable and affordable. They come in yellow for your 2000 too. Google 'em.

I love the foam grips thru cycle gear and the price is right too for about 5.00!

Oury Road Grips for me - they're thicker than most rubber grips, but that works for my oversized mitts... I've been using them on my mountain bikes since purple ano was the cool new thing, and on my bike since I found out they make an MC specific model a year or two ago.

Hot Grips

They are a little bigger round that stock, and get toasty warm when you desire. This is one of the best mods I can ever imagine.

Honda grips. Not the 5th-gen OEM grips, though, the 3rd-4th-gen OEM grips. Good enough for the RC30, good enough for me! Honda grips are a bit shorter than others, so 125mm is more likely to fit than the 135mm ones. But, as I went with OEM, I didn't have to measure them (I bought them and then determined that they were the same length as the OEM 5th-gen grips).

Great advice. Can I ask what site you order your Honda OEM grips from? Most sites that have OEM parts don't seem to offer things like grips.

Pro Grips gel with "plain" diamond pattern, in "plain" black, of course!
Forget all those special "stylish", multi colored patterns that tend to look real goofy after one short season. the diamond pattern also never feel weird even after it develops a little twist on the clipons.

95 VFR

I loved the grips on my VTR - dunno what model they were, but they were thin, soft, and comfy.
The VFR had heated grips on when I bought it (either Daytona, or maybe Oxford cruiser grips), and they were FAT and hard. However, they died a few days ago.
I was tempted to get just ordinary grips (it doesn't get colder than about 3 C here), or find some thinner heated ones, but in the end, the ones they had at the bike shop on Sunday looked cheap and tacky, so I bought some more heated grips - Oxford this time. They are even FATTERER than the old ones, but are softer, being made of squishier rubber and having ghey "OXFORD" embossed on them.
But they work well, so I hope I get used to them.

i put oury mtn bike grips on my bike. yea you have to stretch them other the throttle but i use compressed air and it works like a charm. they stay put, there soft, and tacky. http://ourygrips.com/grips_menu.html

They may well be the best, but I don't reckon'em.

Thanks! I ended up getting them on BikeBandit...not for that good of a price, though. More like $6 a piece. What I like is that the OEM grips actually consider the difference in length between L and R. Now for the next purchase...Throttlemeister.
