got it right here for next to nothing from Mr. Skuuter Trash. Plenty of space, magnets hold very well, and everything is ligically placed and easy to use. It I had to have a complaint, it would be that the map pocket is a little smal. By far my favorite tank bag yet. (and I have tried tons of them)

I'm not sure how big of a bag you want but I love my Nelson Rigg CL350. Plenty large enough yet I don't find it in the way. Not inexpensive, but a very nice magnetic bag. Shop around to find a sale...

Agreed... it's like the typical JR Manta on steroids. Rain cover is incorporated in a pouch in the front of the bag, with plenty of room for odds and ends. NewEnough had them for $45 when I bought mine.

I've used the strap version of this bag for years, comes with rain cover, never moves and has tons of storage. Best bag I've found for the money IMO. Great color...Plain BLACK!
Depends what size tank bag you need. There's literally hundreds to choose from otherwise......
But If your looking for a good basic, small, magnetic tank bag, you can't go wrong with the Cortech mini magnetic tank bag. It will hold just enough stuff you will need for a day ride, it's relatively cheap, comes with a rain cover, has a clear/removable mapcase, has a handy compatment facing the rider where you can fit in your disc lock and house keys, Has a cable port on the side for an MP3 player, a sturdy and comfortable carry handle.......so much stuff for under 50 bucks!
Love my Cortech Magnetic Super Mini Tank Bag. Definetly holds enough stuff for a day ride. I had a Slime compressor, camera, flashlight, GPS, Map, etc in there on my last trip. Retails for around $70 bucks.

That super mini doesn't look like it would hold grocery items....
I have a luggage obsession, so I am always looking for a new/different tank bag. I usually run with a rear top-case, so if I use a tankbag it will be while touring. I would like to find fairly large one and either collapses down or zippers part off, so I can go from touring to twisties and back on trips....no need to take my clothes with me when based out of a hotel, but some things are nice to have like tools etc.
Used to buy the marsee mini/expandable tank bag for everyday use. Zipper eventually starts to fray bag material and the thing starts to chew itself to peices. NelsonRiggs has an outstanding warranty as some of the other may too. Check the warranty if you plan on using it a lot.
Check out the Marsee with the clear hard plastic top lid (I believe there are two versions like this). I got one for about half price several months ago (can't remember where, but I can look it up). It's a great tank bag. I even attach my GoPro camera to it (suction mount).
Motopak is best for the money in my opinion. Quality build and large magnets.(I had apx 25 pounds in it one day and it would hang on a metal door) Lotsa features and expandable.
Check out an Icon Urban tank bag. It holds 'enuf' stuff and converts to a backpack. It also has very strong magnets. I like the flip around helmet holder thingy too. It's about 100 bucks or so on Epay.

I have the first generation one which is pretty much identical to yours, except for the older style "Cortech" logos I have on it's sides. You said you paid 70 bucks for It? Maybe I didn't remember correctly, but I thoughtI paid under 50 dollars for mine (something like $48.00 comes to mind) unless they went up in price. Maybe it was more like $68.00 I paid for it. ...I dunno, but it's still pretty cheap compared to other similar quality/featured thank bags :fing02:
One thing I did notice about tank bags is, a lot of them tend to fade badly after only a couple of years of use in the sunlight, like the way my old Marsee red colored magnetic tankbag did. I don't know if any of the makers bother to include some sort of UV protection treatment to the nylon Cordura type materials these bags are made of. Maybe it's something to check if it's included when buying these bags.
Yeah, the OP wants a large bag that can handle big items (groceries) not those manby bamby man purses some of you are posting! :biggrin:
I found an expandable one on ebay years ago for about $40. It's only real negative was a lack of a rain cover (carry a small trash bag on trips). Magnetic design so easy on/off; never had an issue with scratching as I make sure the tank is clean before putting it on and never lay the bag down without folding up the flaps.
I would also check out RKA. Made by motorcyclists. Very simple and durable. I use my tank bag everyday and it has held up for 5-6 years. Their customer service is top notch for repairs or replacement straps. I carry my bag lots of places while commuting so I went with straps so I did not have to carry around heavy magnets.

The RKA bags look well made, but too square and blocky. Probably be good anyway, just not aerodynamic in appearance.
I like the Moto-Fizz F-10 It works nicely, is very functional, and comes with a waterproof cover with a clean section you can still see your map. It looks good on any bike, attaches with magnets (personally tested to 110mph and still very secure).

Unless you put it on the bike all wrong or forgot that you were riding your bike with the plastic tank, it's pretty hard to shake off magnetic bags in most conditions. Anyway, most of the magnetic bag makers do provide a front lanyard to loop around your front headstock if you feel that you need to do so. I think they really have it there to avoid any litigation in case an owner just really flubbs up on mounting his/her tank bag.
Ever check out Fieldsheer's latest magnetic bags? The magnets (reare earth type??) on them are so strong that I almost toppled over a couple of dealer's metal display shelves just trying to get them off.
Only time I heard of a tank bag fying off a bike personally, was when my yougest brother had his big high side on his SRAD while going through a long sweeper on to an SF freeway (My goofer brother had cold tires, too much testosterone plus a too agressive throttle hand as always!). He clearly remembers seeng his magnetic bag flying right next to him as he flipped over his bike. In such a case, ALL BETS ARE OFF!!

I cut logos off, too, whenever I can. It's always bugged me to have to pay for a product, and then have to advertize it for free for them. If I'm going to be a moving billboard for some company, I want to get paid for it. I just will not buy clothes with logos emblazoned all over them for another reason, too. To me it's like saying, "Hey, look at me! I have a blah blah blah shirt on! Aren't I something!" (BFD!) OK, I'm done with my rant now, but thanks for getting me started.

. :+1: on the Manta XL. I use it on most every ride. I previously had the Oxford compact. While it was a well made bag, I did not like the nylon strap that clipped under the front of your tank. I thought it would eventually wear throught the paint. The Manta XL stays in place even at triple digit speeds. Just make sure to tighten up the rain cover when used or you will have a nice black flag waiving at people as you ride by.
