Well, I've been wanting an inteceptor for a while now, today I bought a zero mile 25th anniversary non-ABS. I paid a little too much for it, but I didn't want to drive 1000 miles for one and my time off is chereished. I'll not post the pic as you guys must be tired of seeing all the RWB models around. My ride home was pouring rain, 48 degrees and I was a good boy, never got it over 80mph. A little about myself. I am a 30 yr old father of two, married, deputy sheriff and former hot rod builder/ restoration guy. I have built and painted quite a few bikes, still do in my spare time. If my bike wasn't the anniversary model it would be getting a custom paint job in no time flat. I ride about 10k miles a year and my last bike was a 2005 Honda VTX1300C (painted it five times before trading it on this one) I've also owned a DRZ-400S, ST1300, and a bunch of old bikes here and there. I've ridden them all, teach the MSF course and live in a town of 450 people just to the left of nowhere. I'm going to ask a lot of questions, answer a few and in general be a live in guest at this forum as long as I have the VFR. I've been surfing it for a while, like what I see and look forward to getting to know some fo the members on here.
Hi! im pretty new here too but can attest the the VAST array of information and help here, its an outstanding place! you bought one of the best looking bikes out there IMO, and im sure youll enjoy it.

Sounds like you have a lot of time-consuming hobbies, plus of course a family. I'm guessing you ride every chance you get to average 10k per year. (I'm the same way. :fing02:)
Actually I live in the town of Rolling Hills, WY. We had frost two days ago, I've seen it snow in July here. I'll get to updating my profile right away. I also appreciate all the welcomes, looks like a friendly forum.

Actually, this one will stay like it is for now, but if I get a track day bike I just might paint it with a variation of the same theme, who knows. As to tales of woe, I try not to have any of those. I just need better rain gear, new tires, unfamiliar bike, 48degrees (F) and pouring rain with 20mph crosswinds were not the best way to take a first ride on my machine. I've had much worse rides, but I've also had much better.
Maybe my wife will let me paint her '05 Honda Element with the RWB paint scheme :biggrin: (me thinks not though)

:biggrin: Welcome George: Great looking bike...you are going to love her when you break her in..approx. 10K. Wyoming is such a great place to ride...Hope the rain stops and you procure better gear...Here's hoping you won't need it!!!! Enjoy, IMO the best all round motorcycle in the Universe!!!! :blink:
George, Welcome - er Howdy? It rained all day when I got my RWB last September. You will really love the ride. In 2007 I walked into the local dealer to pick up some VF1000F parts I had ordered and right there in the middle of the showroom (they kept about 60 bikes in stock) was a VFR Anniversary model. WOW! I thought. I want it. Took me a year and 1/2 but I finally went out and got one. It is my favorite of all the bikes I have. As you can see I added a few farkles to it - like the Euro VFR badges.
10 years, 5 months and 2 weeks from now, I will be retired with 30 years service. Look out. You will really see me riding naked in your neighborhood then.
Welcome aboard George. I like your part of the country, lots of fond memories from antelope hunts NW of Medicine Bow. Perhaps I'll get to ride it one day.
Thanks again for al the warm welcomes. Let me also say that while I'm not exactly fond of rain, you'll not see me hiding under an overpass either. I rode through seven thunderstorms last year and 12 regular rain showers and for some reason still don't have very good rain gear. I have great dry gear though :)
Also, ANYONE is welcome to drop me a line if you're going to be in this area. If I'm at home there is always an extra spot at the table. I'll get some more pics with good backgrounds soon.

When I got mine, it snowed here and stayed cold for several weeks (very unusual for us). So it stayed in my garage with zero miles (I trailered it home.) for weeks and all I could do was sit on it and dream.

I see that you a a fellow CMA'er, My name is Solo, I belong to the Wheels of Grace Chapter (Memphis, Tn). I also had recently bought a VFR about a week ago. I am really starting to enjoy the bike. Just like you, I also had owned a VTX and several other bikes, but for some reason I was always drawn to the VFR. I hope you have plenty of fun filled days of riding.
I'm not a big fan of riding in the rain, either. My reason for that is the extensive cleanup required afterwards. I'm one of those nitpicky guys that has to have a clean bike at all times. :biggrin:
I personally like the RWB paint scheme on the anniversary bikes. If you must paint, maybe do the wheel? That'll hold ya for a while.
Wow, it seem slike there are a lot of guys on here that I have stuff in common with, besides the VFR. I was the chapter president of our CMA chapter (New Jerusalem Knights) but now I'm in the process of becoming the state fast lane rep.
As to the question about the paint on my new bike (metallic), well it's hard to say really. To be honest I have never seen it out int he sunlight and that is where it all matters to me. I bought the bike in a dimly lit showroom, rode it home in the rain and it's been raining or overcast ever since. I rode it to town today for soem food, but the roads were wet and it was cloudy, plus the bike is dirty from the ride in the rain. When it clears up I'll clean it and take it out in the sun to see what I really think of the colors.
ON the note of flat black, I wish I had pics of one bike I painted. I did a two tone with flat balck and gloss black. In the sun it really looked SWEET!! The engine (V-twin crusier) was flat as was the frame, the engine covers (clutch, heads etc) wer gloss and the metal was gloss with flat black racing stripes on it. It really carried the look well.
