Help With A Ram Mount

I have a Ram mount RAM149ZGA26, that I want to mount to the front tank bolts. I saw others have used this mount for their GPS but I see the holes don't exactly line up to the tank mount holes. This mount comes with U-bolts to mount to a handle bar. Have those who have this set up, did you just drill out the hole a bit to get it to line up?

Yes, you can drill them out alittle - I mean the Ram mount holes. No harm in that.
You can also install it on the handle bar on top of clutch reservior. Those holes should match as well.

Humm that part number doesn't match the one I have... mine is a RAM-B-231Z-2, did yours come in a kit with other parts or did you get it just by itself. I know RAM packages some of its parts to make a full mounting system than gives it a new number

But no I did not have to drill any holes just pulled out the bolts and added the mount.

I had to run a round file through the holes on mine but it didn't take much. That aluminum is soft.

Yes, that part number is the kit, the cradle and the mount together. The holes are just a tad narrower than the tank mounting holes. I was just wondering if that's what others needed to do as well, since it wasn't mentioned in any other Ram/GPS thread.

FWIW, mine didn't need any adjusting. I used the RAM mount that came with the Zumo 550, which I think is the RAM-B-231Z-2.

Anybody else have to slightly drill or file your mount holes to match the tank holes?

No drilling on a 5th gen.

No drilling/filing on my 5th gen.

I didn't have to tweak anything on my 5th gen.

I have the same RAM mount on the front tank bolts and didn't need to modify the mount...the holes on the mount are more like slots, so place one bolt, don't totally tighten it down... then try the other and wiggle the mount as needed to get the second bolt in place.

Well, I was able to get it mounted without much of a problem. I just took my dremmel and gave it a quick once over. It must have been a bad batch since this was the second mount that came that way, the first was returned. The holes just weren't really smooth and there was room to smooth it out, almost like the finishing process filled in the hole a bit. Anyway, thanks for the info everybody.

No drilling here.
