Wasn't sure where to post this, but I am going nuts trying to remove the rim tape from my wheels. I spent about half an hour with different stuff including wd40 and goo gone, but I just can't get the adhesive to release. 30 minutes got me about an inch removed. There has GOT to be a better way....

Easy, put them in the sun for an hour or two. Will peel right off. Never attempt cold.
Both suggestions spot on. With the temps in FLA pretty high, let that rim bake in the sun for a good l-o-n-g while, then for good measure hit it with your girl's hairdryer for a bit. Should peel off with no worries.

Reflective tapes are a PITA to remove. They end up cracking to many little impossible to peel off pieces if you try to taking them off, specially when cold. They have adhesives that cure to attach them pretty much permanently on to surfaces. These tapes are derived from the same stuff that the DOT uses for their highway signs and emergency reflectors so they are expected to stay on for a very long time under the harshest conditions. Heat should help, but if it's been on for a very long time and the adheasive had cured and fused on to the paint finish, it might not work too.
That's why I avoid these type of decals altogether.

3M adhisve cleaner is great stuff it will get the last of the sticky stuff off. You should be able to get it at a automotive store.

Screw that! :laugh: I'll just swap my rims from the wrecked bike. It's funny, the Road2's on my 02 have more miles on them than my new bike has. I'll just run those down and leave the new rims in the sun for a week or two.... :laugh:
