Ok so I bought a nice shiny new set of 06 clear signal housings and removed the front cowl to swap them. Once inside I realized that the bulb is white and the housing wont fit the bulb plug ... DAMMIT !

So what do I need to finish the swap up ? A new set of bulbs ? But which ones ? A new bulb housing ? I have a big ride this weekend and next week so if I cant wrap this up quickly tomorow I have to put the yellow ones back in and start all over next week !!! Please help.

For the front, you can seperate the lens from the housing. (Use the new lenses with the old housing).

For the rear, you need sockets for the '06 model, and you will need to make your own connectors as the harness is different also.

Get some amber bulbs, or just re-use the clear bulbs (not DOT approved but it works).

Cut, splice, soldier, and wrap. :fing02:

This is, if you don't have a problem cutting up your wiring harness...

I give this method a +1.

I would even use some shrink wrap.

Would be as good as factory.

I would use yellow bulbs, though. Nothing more annoying than being behind someone at a stop light with a bright white light flashing in your face. Also, don't think it looks good on the front, or is as visible as yellow. Afterall, you do want people to see your intentions to turn or change lanes, right?

Oh yeah, and white light to the rear is illegal. (Don't ask me how I know.)

Some members here put the rear in the oven to soften the glue and swapped the clear cover for the yellow.

Found it, click here!

if by "cowl," you mean fairing, you don't need to remove the front fairing to swap out the front turn signals. removing and reinstalling the front fairing is major pita and simply isn't necessary in this case.

Errr,............... just the side panels. Yah, I imagine taking all of the body off would be a PITA. Nimble fingers and long tools,................ you know what I mean,..............

A few minutes with a grinder will make the 02-05 plugs work in the 06 up front turn signal housings. Just need to open it up a bit and add the slip in notches. I have pics somewhere, the rear is not as easy as there's not really enough neat there to grind on!

Thanks all, I swapped the housings and the the mounts so they fit in perfectly with the old bulbs. I have a new set of yellow bulbs on order now and am told they will pop right into the old housings so we'll see.
