Picture Request: Rear Brake Pedal

When I was in Seattle, I accidentally dropped by bike on its right side. I was sitting on it while it happened and, although I did my best to keep it from falling over, I just couldn't. When I realized it was gonna go down, I simply fought it as best as I could and laid it down as gently as possible. Anyhow, I think the rear brake pedal bent in (see pics below.) Although it still works, I still wanted to replace it with a straight one.

This guy recently sold me a brake pedal ($25) from a VTEC that he said had not gone down. I just got through replacing my bent pedal with the one he sent me and, the thing is, it doesn't look much better than what you see in the pics below.

If your rear brake pedal is 100% straight, can you please post some pics? If possible, I'd like to see pics from these same angles:

Yours is definitely bent. You can carefully use a big crescent wrench to bend it out.

The one you got is bent in, the brake pad on lever is same as the foot peg, I will snap a pic in the AM if no one else has by then.

They can be straightened easily tho, a little heat from a propane torch and just bend it slowly out ;)

I had to straighten mine after I dropped it...no special tools required. It isn't as picky as the levers...it bend back nicely on mine. I realized on my ride that i need to bend it out a bit more to account for my duck foot.

Take it off the bike, and get a rubber mallet, and put the brake pedal on a wooden board and tap until it's straight.... Just a mar free method .... hope it helps...

I heated mine. Took seconds to get it hot enough, and bent easily.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I thought about bending it back (before getting another one) but somebody told me they can break (something I didn't wanna chance.)

This is gonna sound stupid but will a cigarette lighter get it hot enough? I don't think they cost much and I don't have anything else.

Get a bottled gas torch at the hardware store or home improvement store. Not expensive.

Open a long handle Crescent wrench to the width of the end of the pedal
and grab on... lever the aluminum with some muscle while applying heat
from a torch... get the metal hot enough and you'll feel it go from a
solid to a plastic state... that's the signal to bend the lever back
to its original position...
