Alright Stop It Damnit!

Alright now - no more darned "I crashed" posts anymore! This is turning into an epedemic and it has to stop! Ride more alert, dont go so darned fast, take it easy on your commutes and look out for idiots. Just watch where your at and ride like everybody is out to kill you like your life depends on it cause well - IT DOES!

Almost got added to the list today. Lady on right side decided she wanted my lane and without even looking over took my lane by force. I had to brake hard and hit my horn several times. She didn't ever slow down, just kept on coming over. I did give the woman a long hard look, like she really cared.

That crash list could include me, you, pretty much every rider. :warranty:

Ride safe out there. Personally I read the crash reports for ideas of what NOT to do. :goofy:
Now and then there's a useful nugget of info. Sometimes sympathy needs extending.
Sometimes a big Haha! is more appropriate. Just my $2. ;p

Dang! That list would be too long with only one name on it. I feel for all you guys. Hope to see you back on the road soon.

Yep, seems to be a rash of crashes recently, some due to idiotic cagers and some due to rider error. I think when we get late in the season, many riders suffer from overconfidence. Or they push a little too hard, trying to get every last bit of fun out of every ride they can before parking the bike for the winter.

Frankly, reading the crash posts is making me a little nervous - something I'll keep in mind while riding the rest of this season. A little healthy fear can be a good thing IMO! ;)

I'm still waiting on a new back tire that I wore out in Colorado so my ride time has been severely diminished. :(

It's nice to not ride for a bit though. When I get back on it will be with heightened alertness for all the blind cagers and road issues around me.
Remember those 3 golden rules for motorcycles:
1. You are invisible
2. You are silent.
3. If they can run you over they will.

Stay safe. I like reading road reports much more than accident reports. ;)

I was riding along last night in a high speed right sweeper, not speeding much but making good time when suddenly I had this sinking feeling. I'd heard about it before and read about it before but couldn't remember the best response to the sickly feeling of a wallowing back tire that had suddenly lost it's air. I fought it and tried to keep the bike under me but the demands of the corner were more than the limp windless hoop could endure and almost as if in slow motion I felt the entire bike start to extend out from under me. With a few gyrations of my body weight to keep on the bike but still manage the corner and not drift over the center line, I was running out of both body english and road width. As my bike began to oscillate in ever larger sickening motions toward a washout, I knew I was done.... and sure enough, down I went,, luckily, coming off the bike with little fanfare, I realized I was sliding down the road on my back.

Now, I'm not 100% ATGATT but it's only the jeans that make it that way so although I was still doing probably 60mph at this point, my bike sliding ahead of me as if to clear any remaining obstacles off the relatively flat pavement, I wasn't getting ground to a pulp. Strangely enough, I had the awareness and control to be able to position my body so I was riding on my spine protector and my boots with my leather gloved hands providing a modicum of control to prevent rolling. Now at this point, I had enough time to comprehend that I was sliding down the wrong side of the road but as I was on my back, I didn't have the ability to see if I was going to impact either the ditch, a signpost, or be run over by a bus. The other thing I was thinking about was that I was quickly wearing through the spine protector and was going to be hitting shoulder blades to pavement soon.

And I'm not making any of this up. My thoughts go out to those who are in real crashes and I thank my lucky stars that this was only a really vivid dream.

Just remember that you never have the right of way because you are invisible. Be aware of your surroundings and adjust your riding to fit it. Take your own stupidity out of the equation it helps the most for obviouse reasons.

Well if your gonna crash do it on a racetrack. I've crashed twice this year on a track and other than breaking and bending a few parts on the bike its much better than crasing on the street.

Some good news on my end, got my replacement plastics back on finally, new braided lines and galfer pads, forks redone by Jaime D. Very nice work, btw, I had no idea how shaky and jittery my front end was until I rode the new setup yesterday.

It was a nice ride too. We've been having Seattle-like rain in Dallas the last week or so, i.e. every gd day, all day, but the clouds broke yesterday and the afternoon was sunny about 72, with a nice breeze. Got home and changed, did some suspension adjustments and was off. Very nice evening indeed.

Oh man, that's not funny! Now the dream I had the other night that my conservative, but thrifty Dad was buying a CBR600F4i for his even more conservative wife... "but it's such a great deal!"

Edit: in Rice's crash post member Xuluha said he crashed recently, too! I'm getting a little scared to ride my VFR until this is over!

Yeah, way too many crashes lately. At least one fatality on the mostly-Kawi forum I'm on, too.

Well, let's not add to it for the rest of the year, and how about for the rest of time. They say it can't be done, but telling me I can't do something means I will find a way. Add me to the list.....I crashed while four hours from home and without cell phone service yesterday. Bike is totally screwed (bent forks, twisted rearset, crushed plastic) but there is not even a scratch on my person.

I try to ride safely, but I made two huge mistakes:

1. I made an ASSumption about how the rider in front of me would handle the pending turn (I was wrong).

2. I failed to leave sufficient room for error between myself and the rider in front of me.

Live and learn, I guess.

+1. When riding season begins I ride slower and more carefully, taking time to get used to the bike and its handling characteristics again. It's almost like re-learning how to ride, including taking corners slower and being even more vigilant in traffic than usual.

I think more �DRAGON� time is needed to stem this tide of bad luck.
