Who Else Is In Need Of Plastics And Thinking Of Testing Out The Replica Kits ?

So as you all know I was one of the end of the season lowside victims and I have garaged the bike and will spend the next 6+ months putting her back into shape. I have just started chatting via email with one of the manufacturers of the replica body kits for motorcycles out of Shanghai. He seems nice enough and reputable enough to continue digging. I am now awaiting a reply questioning fitment "guarantees", warranty for parts that dont fit, shipping to Canada and US and color choices. However here is what I know now, there is a single kit price and a 5+ kit price that makes a small price break. Plus with 5+ kits I think the shipping will be much more bearable. He has kits that come with "tank covers" and kits that dont so painting the tank isnt required. The first price he threw me is just under $300 US for an entire kit, less if there are 5+ kits ... plus shipping and I get the sense there is a little room to work on that number.

I was just wondering if there were 4 other adventurous souls here who would be interested in taking a chance one an order together ? In my opinion if the shipping isnt too horrendous that works out to less than a replacement nose cone alone and is well worth the shot ... anyone else interested ?

I will post more info tomorrow morning, as I suspect I will hear from him overnight, if anyone is interested. If you are interested and have questions you would like to ensure get answered please let me know.

Oh ... this is not a shop sponsored group buy or anything, just a guy trying to save as much $$$ as possible to save his marriage  so mods if there is a problem with my post please let me know.

I have a 5th gen but I've been debating getting some "chinese knockoff" plastics.

Sorry I missed that post but you and I should compare notes, here is what I just got back from him ...

Thanks for your speedy reply. We are happy to be at your service.

Then, let me answer your questions one by one.
• Injection molded ones do not need any modification, they can fit perfect like OEM ones. Usually as our experience, press molded ones need a little modification, but there is no problem to fit on ,bcs we sell many many sets to worldwide, and nerver get a problem about fitment. But we still advise installation by professional.

• There are many color designs can be choose ,like showing on our website, but it is also welcome to make customer painting and no extra fee.

• Regarding tank cover, some models have ,but some not. You can check this information in our quotation, there is a column for this information.

• We accept replacement or refund , for example, if there is a damaged piece, we will replace a new piece.regarding the quality of painting and fitment , we can promise that they are the best you can see in the aftermarket of fairings.

• Usually we send fairings via China Post EMS. It is the most proper way to send such goods fast as other shipping company but much cheaper. As usual, it takes about 6-8 workdays from Shanghai to your door.

• Regarding the model of VFR800 2003, we can make it for sure, price you can check on quotation ,and here I attach two pics for you in attachment.

Does your kit supplier send tank covers ? Mine does not have em for the VFR. However my pricing seems a little sharper, looks like my guy is gonna go for $250 a kit and $190 shipping total of $440 versus your $485.

I am headed out of town tomorow for an overnight trip but send me a message or email and we can see whats what.

Although I just bought a replacement for every single piece on my bike, I might be interested in a kit (custom colors...) that includes a tank cover. I am concerned with fitment not being right...I ordered a windshield from one of those vendors and they tried to tell me no other VFR owner had complained....there was not WAY it would ever fit.

Sadly this guy does not have tank covers for the VFR so I am continuing to look.

you can add me to the potential list. i like my bike more and more, and so i need to fix my plastics long term. i really like the white w/ black bottom style, but as you said, want the set with the tank covers...thanks for doing due diligence.

I'm officially taking a hit for the team. I just ordered a Repsol kit and they are going to be filling in the passenger handle holes. Sixth gens have tank covers; fifth don't.
I'll be doing a full write up on my thread from the box up. http://www.vfrdiscus...p...=54370&hl=#

Nice work ! What did the kit run you shipped to the US ?

This is the kit I am thinking of with a couple revisions ...

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a43/Theduke_13/CBR600-0506-15.jpg

1. No Sevenstars logo
2. No stars under logo
2. No rear grab handles

Can you see what they will quote on that setup maybe we can split shipping ?

I would check out their Ebay site (same kits I think) and look at some of the (negative) feedback, a lot of their stuff does not fit!
