With 2 VFR800, gen 5 in my garage and more than a few busted up pieces of plastic. I saw NICECYCLE's ad on line and decided what the heck, I've got a new SEARS Gold Card with a zero balance and a 24.9% annual rate and started the process.
I called NICECYCLE and "yes, all the mounting tabs are there (not really) and everything fits and we can custom paint them." Hmmmm, maybe a Casey Stoner replica - but not on a Honda VFR800. Anyway, I sent them a picture of what I wanted done and 2 weeks later it all came in a big box directly from Shanghai!!! First out of the box was the tail section because I wanted to look at the tabs. Paint was quite good but not OEM quality - maybe 95%. I pulled my tail section off and started the conversion.
1st glitch: all the tabs are basically epoxied onto the pieces and gee, they don't match the tail light's mounts. I ended up breaking the 2 tabs off the rear of the tail section and then started on the 2 metal brackets that are screwed onto the light. The oem screws are 5mm but NICECYCLE's tabs had a 4mm threaded insert. No big deal, just a trip to the local hardware store. Anyway, it's the light that is securely pinned to the rear sub-frame.
2nd glitch: All of the oem's mounting holes have a nice thick reinforcement moulded into the back of the plastic making the hole about 1/4" thick - NICECYCLE's plastic is about 1/8" thick. The oem tail section and fairing screws have a shoulder that fit perfectly and securely. They don't work very well with the NICECYCLE part without the "professional" (building up the back side of the mounting hole) installation they recommend. Also, none of the holes really line up. Get a tapered ream or Dremel tool.
After 4 hours of farting around, I gave up on fitting the rest of the parts. BTW, the kit comes with just about every piece of plastic, "faithfully replicated", to completely re-invent your VFR into anything one can dream up. You come up with a design and they'll match it. That much is true.
Well on Sunday I decided to strip the oem fairing and fit up the new stuff. Gives you a great chance to clean up what you can't see as well as destroy $25.00 worth of plastic Honda thingies - more of that later.
Actually, the side fairing went on fine until I went to attach the oem exhaust shield - a V shape plastic piece with 4 pan head screws that attach it to wellnuts in the fairing sides - and guess what! Nothin matched up but oh well, being the "professional installer" I am, I gave up for the day and helped my son mount up a new tire on his Husqvarna 610 supermotard.
I figure I've got the rest of the winter to "professionally" mount the rest of the stuff and maybe their stuff fits their stuff better then it fits the oem stuff.
All in all the $799. I spent was still a lot cheaper than the oem pieces. One side fairing goes foe about $400.00 these days. I'm a little disappointed but that's what happens when we stray from OEM. If anyone's interested in contacting me, feel free to do so.
Happy Holidays

So does anyone have first hand experience with these to say how good they are or not? I'm very tempted but I worry about getting stuck with crappy product when my OEM fairings could probably be saved with a little elbow grease. I suppose it wouldn't be a bad to have two sets of plastics around though, huh?
