Wish I knew. I am still in Iraq, quite a few K in miles away, and won't be home for a couple months. The only thing that keeps my sanity is planning on new MODs and Upgrades for my bike and reading this forum hehe.

At pronounced lean angles these feelers will drag and transmit a very clear signal to the rider that you really need to know what you're doing before leaning further. Pegs are designed to flip up when they drag so it's not dangerous, but when feelers touch the road, the center-stand can't be far from making contact as well and that can be dramatic. Feelers are a built-in safety mechanism.

Yeah I can see that I will be leaving them on just for that occasion. I don't think I will be leaning THAT tight as I want to learn a lot more before I start that side of riding. But, it is good to know. I love learning something new everyday.

If you never plan on scraping your pegs in a corner, you're probably safe in removing them. However, in the event that you unintentionally lean over that far in a corner, I'd much rather replace a bolt and collar than the whole peg.

Well if you're looking for mods, may I suggest you replace them for some titanium feelers. Titanium produces a much nicer spark than aluminum or steel :laugh:

Those feelers are a very good wake up call that you may be into your ride a little deeper than you need to be.

I've gone down x amount of times and they can snap off with the thread inside the peg, which was HUGE fun to extract... :comp13: :dry:
The other time, the feeler broke off AND fragged the footpeg as well!! :mad: :pissed:

That has got to be the best knee draggin on a VFR I've ever seen! I would've thought the bags would drag, but apparently not. Props to the rider. That's some mad skill right there.
Those are standard Honda "funtime limiters".
The longer they are the less fun Honda wants you to have. You should see how long the ones they provided for the 4th gens....first mod I ever did on mine was toss them! :biggrin: ;p

Do what I did (one was missing when I got the VFR). I went to a place that sells fasteners, and bought a couple of studs with the correct thread on the ends, and some domed cap nuts. Much cheaper'n genuine Honda ones, readily replaceable, and slightly shorter (by choice).

I've scraped a peg feeler a couple times, but now I prefer better body positioning to avoid extreme lean angle (when possible). :)

Thanks bro. That has kind of become my nickname. On my Patrol Cap I have a nametape that says it on the back. Has kind of stuck. Hell, even the guys in the Legion call me that hehe.
As far as the lean goes, I am surprised that a sidebag didn't rip off on Sebs pic. I didn't even notice the sparks until now lol. My god it is amazing.

Actually, no! :biggrin: She admitted later that the touch off frightened her, but having avoided a crash she said touching off her toe sliders was cool! She's the best passenger I've ever had - she's even started hanging off the bike with me! I should note that we only do this a couple times a year - much less than we'd like to - I just wanted to throw that out there so we don't get labeled as crazies... we do have an awesome son that we love to death so we keep our adrenaline fixes in check! :)

Pish-posh! I first discovered these when I snapped the right-side off during some aggressive cornering. I soon removed the left one and have never ground out the centrestand.
Although, there's a nice dent in my header pipes though......*cough*

For sure! I remember making a conscious decision to stay on my side of double yellow, even though there wasn't any traffic. You can see in the vid where I was going wide, scraped peg, then eased out, but tipped back in and put the peg and header down. It's amazing how fast the mind can work. When you're on the bike it seems like a span of a 4-5 seconds, when in reality it happens in one or two. I wish I had some video from some of my crashes, I love going back and analyzing exactly how/when and how quickly things happened, you learn so much from that!
Yeah I watched a few of the others. Would have been nice if there was a bike behind you with a camera. Some of them turns in a couple of the other vids looked kind of hairy as well hehe.
