Hi all! I have seen the above referenced statement numerous times, so not having had any experience I am posing this question to the "experts" I have had & like Pirelli Diablos, I had to replace my front tire due to my accident in June with a new Diablo, and now the rear needs to be replaced. Motorcycle Superstore is out of stock right now, but they say they are expecting some in. I have also read that these tires are now discontinued... Has anyone used a Diablo Strada with the Diablo front???
Any input would be appreciated
The 1st set of Diablos 16,220. miles
The 2nd set of Diablos front 11,639. rear so far 17k

Done the same combo with absolutely no problems.
I've mixed tyres on bikes.... hmmmm.... seven times? Eight?
I still can't figure out though what it is that causes me to crash, die, explode into flames, and die all over again, but I really HATE it when that happens! :fing02:
Sorry but from experience, I never mix tyres anymore - I've had all sorts of issues in the past.
I must be reading that wrong. Are you saying you got 16K MILES out of set of Diablos? I got ~2K and they were DONE. :fing02:

No not reading it wrong...I am not hard on tires, so I must be doing something wrong :biggrin: I just ride for fun, I haven't even thought of a track day or anything like that... maybe if I did I could get some awards...like I do in my V8 Vega when I drive that :fing02:

I run a Michelin Pilot Road 2 on the back and a Michelin Pilot Power 2CT on the front. At first they did not feel good together but after they were broken in they feel great. I wouldn't hesitate to have the stickier tire up front but I would never mix tire brands.
All this advice doesn't mean anything if you don't keep proper PSI on your tires. :biggrin:

I'm running Diablo front, Diablo Strada rear on a 2000 VFR. No issues.

I run mismatched tires most of the time. I've been running Pirelli Diablo fronts for awhile and have run Diablo, Dunlop Qualifier and Metzler Roadtec Z6 rears. Next up on the rotation is a Michelin PR2 rear. I've never had an issue on dry or wet roads with any combination.
BTW, I'm a huge fan of running a sportbike tire on the front, regardless of what you run on the rear. I want a stickier tire up front in the twisties.
Not to say you can't run sport-touring tires on both wheels. The 1st set of tires I bought for my VFR were Conti Road Attacks, which I loved. But now I prefer somewhat softer tires, esp. on the front.
I've mixed all kinds of tires, I've mixed different brands of tires. Never had any problems. It's nothing I do on purpose but for example, my bike came stock with Dunlops, I hate Dunlops. After the back was toast (1600 miles) the rear got a Pilot Power, but I kept the stock Dunlop on the front until the PP was toasted at 6500 miles. I've never had the slightest issue, really I think you would have to be turning competitive times on a track before you could, other than that it's probably in your head.
I mix tires all the time, no problem.
