Did my 5th gen header swap today. Went well, really no probs at all just a lil back and forth with the final fit. I was able to reuse all the clamps and gaskets. The 6th gen clamps wont fit but the pipes I got were in damn near excellent condition I think for 10 years old. Overall it was a fun lil project, bout 4 hours, including brakes here and there to play with my daughter...she was my helper. Tomorrow I'll ride after I change the oil, put the side fairings back on and put back on the rear wheel with my brand new Mich Pilot Road 2!!

Curious about how you handled the cstand? Does it just rest against the pipe?

I've read here that you can just jb weld the stoper on the new pipes or wrap a piece of hose or something around the stand and let is rest on the pipe. From what I've read both seemed to have worked. I think I'll just go the wrap the stand route tomorrow. I also read that some had to remove the stand to remove the pipes, I didn't, if I had to I might not have put it back on.

I put 5th gen headers on my previous 6th gen and never did anything about the center-stand stopper. If it was hitting, I never noticed, certainly never bothered me.

So any 800 5th gen header bolts onto a 6th? Even the delk ones?

That's the idea, at least. When it comes to headers, it seems nothing is ever a 100% perfect fit and will need some wiggle room, but many have switched to 5th gen headers and Delkevics.
I have heard that the Delkevics don't fit quite as nicely as Honda made headers, but can't speak from personal experience. And I don't know that all headers have the correct stopper for the center stand.

You will need a Power Commander, to richen the mixture with catless headers, however.

Wouldnt the FPR upgrade also suffice?
