While cleaning up my '04 this afternoon I noticed the left side of my dashboard plastic cover and the face of the left side instrumentation were a bit separated, maybe 1/8" or so. When I pressed on the dash panel it gave in toward the instrument face, so it seems to me it's warped a bit, probably from repeated prolonged exposure to sun/heat.
Either it's warped outward a bit or an inner fastener came loose, but I suspect the former.
It doesn't especially bother me, but I'm curious - Has anyone else experienced this?
Have you got a standard windscreen? The reason I ask is that some Blackbird owners reported that aftermarket double-bubble screens caused their dashes to warp due to the way the screen focused the sunlight on them in some circumstances.
Yep... mine's a little deformed... but I am unsure as to hether it is from a fron on accident I had or when some a$$hat placed a chinese lamp on top of the bike (more or less on top of the top triple and set fire to it...

Yep, still have the OEM windshield on my '04. I did try an aftermarket screen for a couple days early this year but didn't like the fitment compared to the stocker.
Yes mine is the same. way. It doesnt fit exactly flush on the edges of the insturment panel. I thought it was from an a drop but I guess i'm not alone.
Mine is exactly as you describe, no big deal but there is a gap.
